Last Oasis is a game with a seriously solid concept. It's core gameplay loops are satisfying as hell, and just sailing through the desert on the house you built for yourself is just so good.

It is definitely in alpha, and a lot has changed over the last few months. Honestly I stuck around through the rough launch and through the giant clan wave that made playing in small groups awful - but this is the first game in well over a decade that got me to join some rando's discord. I met tons of people I would never have spoken to in another game, and after taking a bit of a break I'm back with the wipe.

This is easily my favorite game in years.

i really wanted to like this game; after spending hours trying to get prepared to make the journey to go acquire magic, I finally got what I wanted and was super satisfied! And then I found the fireball combination I'd unlocked just didn't work very well. In general, the entire game has been extremely clunky, which I think it tries to disguise behind a "its supposed to be difficult" veneer of soulslike gameplay, but the system is just a little too janky to feel comparable. At the end of the day, I really wish I could have discovered more in this game, but the payoffs feel so empty compared to the hoops you have to jump through.
