I'm an old gamer, my first PC games were on Radio Shack TRS-80 back in about 1979. So I have witnessed the entire PC gaming evolutionary history.

After building my first few Dyson swarm guns, I sat back and watched it populate the night sky. I was awestruck, thinking back to how much the very simple games of the late 70's and early 80's has progressed. I could sit back and watch the Swarm forming in the night sky while standing on my planet. Beautiful sight.

It has been awhile since I have had such a "wow!" moment in a game, but I have had a few such moments over the course of gaming in the past 4 decades. Those games become unforgettable.

This game is of course very similar to Factorio, so if you liked Factorio (as I did) you will like this. But the scale of the game puts it above Factorio in my opinion. Very addicting.

There is a combat update coming later this year (2023) which will complete the experience I think (It is promised you can toggle combat off if it is not your cup of tea).

Very engaging tactical gameplay. Different ways to approach combat.

I appreciated the attention to detail in the story.

I played this game off and on since it came out in 2000. Thats 20 years. It still holds up well. My favorite game of all time!

Camera is a little wonky.

Gameplay is very unique. The soul mechanism....I have never seen another game do something similiar.

The campaign is very creative, there are probably about 50 unique ways to play the campaign. Then there are a huge number of custom maps (no random mapping) either with the game or that you can find in an online pack, so lots of replay there.

The game might seem insanely difficult to you if you are taking it up the first time. But once you get the hang of the soul resource mechanism and what it means (what looks like a total defeat for you very often is only a minor setback if you play it right), it becomes much easier, but still challenging. I can setup custom maps 3v1 that I still find challenging.

The music is just awesome, so great at mood setting.

I am stuck at account creation, I tried several times to create an account and I am not sent an activation email. This would seem to be a pretty basic task that they are unable to get right.

WARNING - DO NOT BUY

I have just over 500 hours in this game. Rockstar has mandated a new launcher that has broken the game for myself and many others.

Prior to this, while I was enjoying the game, the online experience was plagued with far more hackers than I have ever seen in any game, period. OP vehicles were also used by griefers, and crashes were horrendously frequent, sometimes 2-3 per hour.

Even so, I had enjoyed it because the base game was a lot of fun.

But now, it is impossible for me and many others to launch. I've spent several hours trying to get it to run again.

Dont waste your money. Rockstar is not concerned anyway with making a good playing experience, it really is mostly "pay to win" with "shark" cards that has inflated the in game price for anyone trying to play legitamately.

Bad, bad experience. I will not purchase any further Rockstar games after this.

This game is the best combination of "zen" and "adrenaline rush" I have ever seen! For my $3 I already got more out of it then lots of $50 AAA titles I wasted money on.

Very addicting. beautiful scenes to fly through, then dive into a canyon and experience the rush of speed. You definetly cannot go wrong for the price. Its a steal!

This is a cheap port of a playstation game. Its so cheap they didnt even bother changing the prompt to the player of how to read a message, you get a "press A" note. I had to go to a player forum to learn how to actually read messages. (of course, I did actually first press the "A" key on my keyboard. How stupid is it when a game tells you to press A to read a message, and you press A, and nothing happens. Or maybe my character tried to drink a health potion or something, wasting it while I was trying to read a message).

Its a waste of $60. What a pile of trash. Lazy programmers. Actually, unbelieveably lazy programmers. Programmer this lazy should be fired from the job.

Press the A key if this review saved you from wasting your money.

I have read the reviews here about "bugs" and I am mystified what everyone is talking about. Granted I have only played the game now for 7-8 hours, but if the bugs were as prevelant as everyone seems to suggest you would think I would have had at least one crash by now. Nope. It runs fine on my Win10 system. I do see many of these reviews were written back in June, so perhaps there have just been a slew of bug fixes since then. It seems very stable now. So with my limited playing time I mainly wanted to say that as my "review".

So far I am enjoying the game. It is wickedly complex. I have never played any of the earlier versions so its a steep learning curve for me, but after my time in it it has definetly peaked my interest to return for more. There are a large number of variables and options to come to grips with. There is an online tutorial series "beginner, intermediate, advanced" about an hour each (so far I have only looked at the beginner one) that helped jump start me into the game, because the in-game tutorial left me a little bewildered the first crack at it. I believe a developer was involved in the tutorial series.
