I died to 2 hackers in 5 years of DayZMod.

I've died to 12 hackers in 3 months of Standalone.

Make no mistake: this game is really, REALLY great. Immersion, combat etc. It's the whole package.

The only way to play this game is on a community server, otherwise you will be left hanging by the non-existent anti-cheat and fall victim to kill scripts.

Unfortunately, it's hard to find a community server that isn't overly saturated with mods or cosmetic packs.
