Kreedo, Check out http://multiplayerrobot.com/ It allows you to play multiplayer Civ V at your own pace. Kinda like Play by e-mail but all the work is handled by the client. I got m4rTi going on it, and MAYBE Darkhuntress.

We have a game going now (I am in last place) that you can join in and take over one of the AI players.
