DREDGE was good fun but not worth the full price. I upgraded my ship fully, did the majority of the main quests and clocked 12 hours total.

The atmosphere the game creates in the early hours was great, I had fun upgrading, learning and unlocking new powers, all whilst avoiding the perils of the night. After a certain point though, the game became a lot easier and really lost its spark.

One of the biggest failings is the lack of an engaging narrative, most quests are similar and meeting characters only served purpose to advance the completion of the story and unlock new equipment. There are also few cosmetic upgrades to your fishing vessel, something which feels like a bit of a missed opportunity.

One of the games saving graces (for fans of a grind) is the variety of fish you can collect and update in your journal. This however, isn't really my jam and after around 6-8 hours I'd grown tired of the core gameplay loop. I pushed through the remainder of the main quests (aside from the robed figure ones) and finished the story.

Net this on sale for a tasty catch, reel it in at full price and you'll feel a bit seasick.

PROS:
- Runs amazing on Steam Deck
- Beautiful art style
- Relaxed, simple gameplay

CONS:
- Uninspired story (aside from the Lovecraft influence)
- Lack of customisation
- Grows repetitive quickly

Now the game breaking bugs are fixed and the disconnect protection is live I'm enjoying playing the game.

PROS

- Same addictive and challenging gameplay with the new 2020 rule set
- Revamped engine with gorgeous character models / animations
- Better customisation options for you team
- Blood pass is fun to work your way through, unlocking new skins and assets for free by earning XP

CONS

- No proper league management tools yet
- Playing against AI is god awful (same as BB1 and BB2)

Overall I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys Blood Bowl and wants to play competitively either with friends or randoms online.
If you're looking to create a competitive league with admin tools I'd hold off until they've added these into the game. (I believe they're in the dev roadmap).
