I am not aware what versions of this game are there that run well, but this version of this game is horrible. I have a modern computer, great video card, and 99% of games run excellent. But this old game somehow runs horribly. There are very few graphics options, and the ones you can adjust do not make a significant difference. The anti-aliasing is barely noticeable. Framerate is strangely lagging when I set it to 60. Just looks bad, and runs poorly.

Now about the game content itself. I honestly do not understand why some people are giving it good reviews back in the day, or now. The voice acting is some of the worst I have ever seen. It is just horrible. It is also sometimes poorly recorded. The customization options of the character are very minimal. I mean, at the time of this game's release there were already games that offered much more. When you move your character through the world the animations do not blend well with the environment. They stutter, they don't fit geometrically and very often look awkward.

I am not sure whether the game has known problems with lighting, but on my computer it all looked like it was either not working, or it was barely noticeable. I checked and double checked that all options were on max. So, basically I have a very bad impression of Divinity II: Developer's Cut. I don't recommend it to anybody.

After the high quality Puzzle Quest 1 and 2 I just don't understand what product this is. In its current art and gameplay direction this is not looking good. It looks like a million other match 3 puzzlers on mobile phones. I hope the developer is still open to re-designing the game, unless they have a deadline.

As far as the gameplay I am not sure allowing to move jewels diagnoally is a good idea. It makes the game more about being faster with the controls rather than identifying matches. If the emphasis is the speed of the mouse/controller to move jewels horizontally, vertically, and diagnoally it makes the game less interesting. The previous games had good gameplay because you could actually think and plan ahead by selecting spells, and finding items that modify the player strategy without a time constraint. Perhaps a timed mode could be an alternative game mode.

As far as art direction and presentation, Puzzle Quest 1 and Puzzle Quest 2 are significantly different in presentation, and I think both were great. Maybe if this game were more similar to those in tone it would get more positive reviews. It doesn't matter whether Japanese style art is used like in the first Puzzle Quest, or more like a western crpg like Puzzle Quest 2.

Also, if Puzzle Quest 3 is going to be a "free" game with the model that wants the players to buy in game currency and modifiers, then there is just no point in spending time on it. There is a million of those games already.

As of 2022 this game is pretty much abandonware that has a broken menu, freezes at the end of the tutorial and does not work from that point on. I tried to get past the broken tutorial many times and each time the computer froze requiring me to do the alt-ctrl-delete to bring up the Task manager to fore quit the program.

Also the cars, even though they are tiny toy cars, have only minimal simplistic physics so there is very little fun to be had here. Very bad repetitive music. Basically, why would you want to play this when you can get much better games in your mobile phone app store?

Rogue's Tale is one of those games which does not impress either with the visuals or the animations, but which is still very fun to play for hours. When areas are generated they can very very different from one another. They are not simply differently arranged rooms and corridors. The characters you create and level have very meaningful and defined choices of progression. Whoever has come up with most of this game's gameplay and content clearly has put a lot of thought into this.

Despite the positive things about Rogue's Tale I described above there are still some areas of the game which strangely remain without improvement. For example the audio for various actions doesn't have any variation in it. When you are hurt you make the same "ow" sound, even if you make it many times in a row. Other things seem like they need some sound effect added for better immersion.

The graphics are ok for the simple graphics that they are, but sometimes I feel like a little more effort could be put in either to make the game give you more choices or to add more cosmetic shine to levels.

I think anyone who likes this type of game will enjoy Rogue's Tale

I highly recommend The Forest to anybody. At first I was somewhat skeptical because at the core the game appears to be just another survival game where you have to survive as many days as possible. I also have gotten the game awhile back when it was either in early stages after release, or may have been in the preview stage.
Stylistically the game seems to have been inspired by some movies such as the Italian Cannibal Holocaust movies. The movie The Descent, especially when you are under the ground in some caves, and maybe the more recent movie called Green Hell (2016), and by the stories of the European ocean explorers.

When I picked The Forest up again in 2020 after getting a new PC started it again I was pleasantly surprised. First of all the graphics are very excellent. There are many settings you can tinker with which make the game look fresh and exciting without getting tired of the visuals. The forest and nature itself look very realistic and immersive. Its similar to those games where you just want to explore and take a look at everything.

First of all, to fully enjoy the game you should plan on playing it on a good computer with a good video card. I tried running it on a weak one, but then it just runs slowly. Even if it runs, you cannot experience many things when you get slow framerates or have to turn off graphics effects just to make it run.

One thing that is really good is the aspect of The Forest is that while it is a actually a survival game like others, it offers enough gameplay elements that are unique to the game and which are sometimes done very well. These range from small adjustments to simple actions to big components of gameplay. For example I very much like how you can chop down a tree and see it fall. The tree becomes big logs and you have to carry them to places where you need them to construct something. Could be a fence, a cabin, etc. I just don't remember this kind of thing in other games done so well. You get to catch animals with many traps.

The thing I like the most is probably what many other players like as well, which is the enemies. They attack and run away in interesting ways. The AI seems to be pretty well written to recognize when they are in groups, or alone. They run away, but then circle around and attack you. There are many cool examples. The enemies are also very terrifying. I won't describe what they look like, but its just plain scary. Especially when you try to crawl through caves underground. You could get attacked by some enemies whom you realize you cannot kill. So, your only option becomes to run away. But then you just get lost and then you can starve or die of dehydration.

Combat with the enemies is pretty well done as well. It is not always consistent, but usually it is pretty fun to see enemies dodge out of your way, blocking their attacks, using different weapons strategically, using the environment. Some weapons like the spear have high attack rate, but no blocking. Others, like a club, have large damage, can block, but are slow.

Catching and harvesting animals is also overall fun because you catch them in different ways, and need some of them to make specific essential items. The problem is some things are too easy to kill. Birds, for example. You see one and sneak up to it thinking it will fly away when you see that the bird is very slow to react, and slow to fly. Once you hit it, whether killing it or not, another one immediately takes its place as according to script. Fish are too easy to catch. Turtles are easy. But something like rabbits are significantly more difficult. Its still fun, but inconsistent.

The game isn't by any means ideal. Apart from the many excellent elements, some seem to just be missing, or ignored. For example you cannot dig the ground, sometimes you need too many basic things that you need to find. To find a bunch of sticks you have to find them either on the forest floor or by cutting down a bush, but you cannot just get them from the branches of big trees. You can still cut down a tree, but there aren't sticks from it for some reason. There is no smoke or interaction with it. Some plants have seeds, and then the same plant has only berries, but no seeds. You cannot cook a bunch of meat and then carry the cooked meat with you. YOu can carry a bunch of pieces of raw meat, but not after you cooked it. I also wish it had more different things to craft, more different creatures.

Armello is a competent game that works and has very nice presentation, but which suffers from gamplay that is boring and which lacks essentiall gameplay options.

I think everyone can see that Armello has very nice artwork and cool characters. Especially initially it is very impressive because it suggests that the gameplay itself will reflect the quality of the art. But you will be sadly disappointed when you start playing and when you get into the game. It is exceptionally slow and boring. In fact it feels more like a card game than a strategy game despite having to move on a surface of a boardgame.

How do I put it? It is as if the character you may pick, the abilities they may be given, and the cards they receive are all arbitrary and too random. It causes there to be a lack of consistent elements of strategy which are needed to figure the strategy out or to decide on tactics.

When you may decide to go into combat with a character the battles are resolved using dice, so that itself dilutes strategy further and you have no way to estimate how you should play unless you literally start a match over and over and experiment. This may work for players who like doing that, but it is a flaw in design in my opinion. There should be provided a much deeper tutorial and an in depth strategy manual. Not everyone has time to just figure out what you should do.

Another problem is that the art and animations themselves interfere with the gameplay. By that I mean that when you may want to see what the stats of the characters are, see the dice roll, to see who wins, and go on. But every smallest game screen has a bunch of colorful art on it, and has unnecessary animations which only distract and further slow the gameplay down.

There is also no way to show the gameplay map plainly without the overlay of animations and graphics. You need to be able to see a barebones simplified map. Only option there is to zoom out as far as you can. But then the further you zoom out everything gets covered in fog and you cannot quickly overlook the entire map.

I just really dislike the game because of these things I mentioned. It gets clogged up with elements that aren't a part of the game or strategy. Come on.

Well, how do I put it? It is a functional chess game, but it is inferior to any online chess games you can play on any of the major websites. The graphics, the sound, the gameplay, all of these options are severely lacking from this chess game. There is just no reason to spend time on it when you can do much better by playing online either against computer or against many live players. The game interface is also poorly designed.

Overall a very nice version of Carcasonne. Good for any beginner to average player. Perhaps too few options to choose from. No detailed graphics or sound settings. Repetitive soundtrack. But so far I had no bugs. It just could have many more features for gamers who may not have enought time, or enough patience. For example it would help to alternate animation and move speeds. Would be nice to have more camra options as opposed to just top-down, and at an angle. An AI move hint system could make the game friendlier to newcomers to the game.

As far as Carcasonne as a board game (not this particular software of Carcasonne) then in my opinion this is one of the best strategy board games. It is relatively simple. The core of the game is based on your memory, calculations(such as card counting), and future planning. You don't have to choose cards to pick, to hold, or tomake moves with. Cards are given to each player one at a time, per turn. Then you decide where to attach it to the whole map and which resource/area/structure to claim for yourself. Once it gets complete you get points.
It may seem simple at first but it is not simple at all to win consistently with stronger AIs. A game can last about 5 minutes if you do not take any time to make a move. But the game is such that one match never looks like another due to open endedness and wide selection of move choices. One of the most popular logic strategy games in Europe and in Germany specifically.

I am very happy with Civ 5. I won't say it is "better" than Civ VI. It is just good on its own because there are enough unique game mechanics to make it different enough to make comparison pointless.
As usual there are lots of civs with very special buffs and debuffs. The sea battles are fun. There are lots of tactics and strategies you can learn to adjust your gameplay style mid game, or to experiment.

AI is not very smart as usual with Civ games. But it doesnt mean it is easy. It just doesn not behave like a person would. You can always add more AI opponents which is IMO a better option than playing against few AIs which get unfair advantages.

The graphics are very good. This I can compare to Civ VI. For some reason the textures and tile art is more beautiful and more realistic than in the later Civiliztaion VI.

One unpleasant thing I keep being annoyed by is that quick move and quick combat almost instantly relocates the units as opposed to accelarting them. You can lose track which unit was where.

Music is very nice as are sound effects.

Keep in mind that the game will easily eat days of your life with every additional move.

I don't know. I've looked at a bunch of reviews by Steam users and the negative reviews do not seem to make sense to me. I am a fan of Civ games. I spent many hours on Civ IV, Colonization, and Civ V. I play Beyond Earth and to me the gameplay and mechanics of the game seem to be more interesting than that of traditional Civilization game. The scifi setting of the game allows for a lot of unusual but very fun ways to deal with the enemies and to win the game. For example the miasma obstacles, alien life, and a more open ended branching of technology. It is fun to see how you can focus on dominance of water space, soil, the skies, and very unique branches of research for non military technologies. I like it.
