If you liked "The Room" series of games then you will like this game just as well. Its basically the same kind of deal. Find a mysterious box with impossible dimensions involved in it, solve various puzzles to open said box, use items to progress in rooms. Aside from aesthetic the games are virtually the same in terms of core gameplay. Even the overarching story is littered with notes from someone going on about their new invention that could change everything.

Its not meant as a dig against the developer. Its just simple fact. If someone made a game that was mario all but in name and style (so braid) the comparisons would be impossible to not make.

Its a simple little time killer. Port of a mobile game but without any of the normal mobile game nonsense.

you basically just move your little guy around collecting resouces to unlock more tiles or to upgrade your tools. and you do that until you finish the planet your on and then move onto a different planet with different materials to collect and use to unlock tiles.

nothing too fancy, just kinda chill way to kill time.

New coat of paint, same old overly monetized buggy PoS Online experience where you experience a problem and end up wasting all your time because something didnt register correctly or something got wedged due to a physics error and the boring as hell mission you were on now has to be completely repeated because god forbid the developers learn proper checkpointing after all these years. I now remember why I didn't touch this thing in over 7 years.

25 hours in and it feels like this game is very.. meh. They basically took persona and put it into a medival fantasy setting but... forgot all the style and the interesting dungeon designs. The story isn't really compelling. The characters feel boring. Combat is okay but its just all kinda.. eh.

50 hours in and I'm not sure I will actually finish this game. I'm so far into it that it almost seems like a waste not to but at the same time I've very literally fallen asleep 3 times while playing.

Forces starts out okay but quickyl falls apart into a disjointed mess of a game. A shadow of something that could have been cool but instead is broke up into short but still annoying levels, cut scenes that jarringly start and stop, "Epic" scenes that never do anything cool, and a cosmetics reward system that is seemingly completely random and tonally insane.

The story makes no sense. The bad guy looks completely weird and gets little explination. Alt-dimension Sonic is here, why? ♥♥♥♥ you for asking shut up and deal with his levels. So on and so on.

Developers sell cosmetic customization DLC but according to the forums actually using customizations has been broken for nearly a year with Developers not taking any interest in fixing it. Yet they still happily sell useless DLC packs all the same.

A great throwback metroidvania with fun movement tech and a stacked thicc goat mom MC. What more could you ask for?

The 7th Guest VR is a reimagining of the original 7th guest game, this much is obviously said. What isn't obvious is how much care was put into this game. While some may be disappointed that it isn't a 1:1 remake only in vr, and let me be honest there were parts of the game that did disappoint me, generally speaking the changes are made for the better. Generally. The script for the game is unquestionably improved by.. well using the original as a outline and then giving everyone better lines and direction. Look I loved the original but watching the FMV's now is.. sorta painful how bad they were at times.

The puzzles of the original are almost all gone, although some of the puzzles reference the old ones or are new spins on them, but generally speaking each room has multiple puzzles in it rather than a single one and the originals simply would not translate well to VR space. Trying to rearrange 27 cans in a shelf in VR would likely be a nightmare and likewise would trying to trace a line with your finger through a martian maze. The house itself has had its layout changed around to be a little more in line with what the actual bounds of the house have been displayed as. No more weirdly jutting out rooms or confusing room attachments. Sadly this also meant some of the more out there elements were removed. No ghostly shortcuts like diving down a pool table and the basement maze was totally ripped out for better or worse.

That said the new puzzles are not without their issues. Several of are very difficult to navigate in VR due to not being able to lean over or see around them easily. Some are simply too cryptic. I still don't know what exactly the rules were for the ABCDE puzzle I simply farted around until i solved it. The Doll room puzzle was so maddening that I think a lot of people probably just used the auto-solve feature for it. And the final puzzle true to the original has a really annoying RNG element to it that I was fortunate ended up favoring me. Yes there is an auto solver in the game, it does sort of punish you for using it by locking you out of an achivement however.

Still problems aside I recommend the game to anyone who liked the original and want to enjoy a shortish 3-5 hour VR puzzle game of which it feels like there are vanishingly few of. The house feels so much more alive, the puzzles more head scratching, the FMV's are now replaced with volumetic 3d recordings allowing you to wander around and see them from different angles while retaining that unnatural feeling that the original games FMV had.

It's absolutely astounding the Spike Chunsoft of all people could create a murder mystery game with such an interesting set of premises and have it be so outstandingly boring. Not even the lewd big booba BDSM AI can save this game from being a drowsy snorefest with a unrewarding series of twists and reveals.

After 3 hours I decided that Id rather just let robots do art. Sorry. The tools are just too annoying and the pay is bad.
