Developers sell cosmetic customization DLC but according to the forums actually using customizations has been broken for nearly a year with Developers not taking any interest in fixing it. Yet they still happily sell useless DLC packs all the same.

The 7th Guest VR is a reimagining of the original 7th guest game, this much is obviously said. What isn't obvious is how much care was put into this game. While some may be disappointed that it isn't a 1:1 remake only in vr, and let me be honest there were parts of the game that did disappoint me, generally speaking the changes are made for the better. Generally. The script for the game is unquestionably improved by.. well using the original as a outline and then giving everyone better lines and direction. Look I loved the original but watching the FMV's now is.. sorta painful how bad they were at times.

The puzzles of the original are almost all gone, although some of the puzzles reference the old ones or are new spins on them, but generally speaking each room has multiple puzzles in it rather than a single one and the originals simply would not translate well to VR space. Trying to rearrange 27 cans in a shelf in VR would likely be a nightmare and likewise would trying to trace a line with your finger through a martian maze. The house itself has had its layout changed around to be a little more in line with what the actual bounds of the house have been displayed as. No more weirdly jutting out rooms or confusing room attachments. Sadly this also meant some of the more out there elements were removed. No ghostly shortcuts like diving down a pool table and the basement maze was totally ripped out for better or worse.

That said the new puzzles are not without their issues. Several of are very difficult to navigate in VR due to not being able to lean over or see around them easily. Some are simply too cryptic. I still don't know what exactly the rules were for the ABCDE puzzle I simply farted around until i solved it. The Doll room puzzle was so maddening that I think a lot of people probably just used the auto-solve feature for it. And the final puzzle true to the original has a really annoying RNG element to it that I was fortunate ended up favoring me. Yes there is an auto solver in the game, it does sort of punish you for using it by locking you out of an achivement however.

Still problems aside I recommend the game to anyone who liked the original and want to enjoy a shortish 3-5 hour VR puzzle game of which it feels like there are vanishingly few of. The house feels so much more alive, the puzzles more head scratching, the FMV's are now replaced with volumetic 3d recordings allowing you to wander around and see them from different angles while retaining that unnatural feeling that the original games FMV had.

It's absolutely astounding the Spike Chunsoft of all people could create a murder mystery game with such an interesting set of premises and have it be so outstandingly boring. Not even the lewd big booba BDSM AI can save this game from being a drowsy snorefest with a unrewarding series of twists and reveals.

After 3 hours I decided that Id rather just let robots do art. Sorry. The tools are just too annoying and the pay is bad.

Talos Principle 2 is as one might expect simply the original but more. More mechanics, more worlds, more terrain to traverse, more characters to interact with, more philosophy to ponder over and just a slightly higher puzzle count than the original.

The only thing it doesn't really have more of is difficulty. Where as the original slowly unlocked more mechanics and used them consistantly throughout the puzzles, the sequal features mechanics that are nearly unique to whatever one of the tweleve zones they originated from, starting with tutorial like puzzles before getting more complicated at the end. While some mechanics DO over lap in later zones its no where near the complicated mess it was in the original. Due to this I would say that I was able to sight read and solve about 70% of the puzzles without needing to really stop and think or come back to them later.

That said difficulty concerns aside the story and the visuals are worth experiencing for yourself. While not nearly as hard as the original the story really shines through a lot more due to the cast of characters and their diverse personalities and motivations.

A game with a strong start and a... give it a few months for them to iron out all the bugs final 3rd. Worth playing but yeah if you're not really wanting to binge the game right away just sit on buying it because the back 3rd of the game is just rife with problems. Shouldn't have to hope that devs fix their game post launch but thats where we are.

I was really excited for this remake as a fan of the original game but honestly having played it I can't recommend it. While its mostly a faithful remake stuff feels off. Difficulty levels are missing, enemies feel more tanky, the inventory managment changes are unwelcome, some of the weapon graphics are so obnoxious to look at that i had to switch off them when not using them... And the final area has just been kinda maimed in design.

A shame given how long it took but it feels like they didn't take enough liberties in changing stuff and where they did they made the game worse than the original. Other than graphics, there isn't much improved here.

I mean its not very long. Took about 2 hours to get to the end. Its certainly interesting if nothing else and for only 8 bucks I can't really complain that much.

There really isn't much to this game. its like 30-40 minutes escape room but its not really... difficult? And then there is a sorta tacked on combat section. When i first got it I thought maybe it was Early Access and would get more content but no.. thats just the game.
