Hits the sweet spot between too hard and too easy. Deep world to dive into (should be obvious given the source material). Though it creates it's own alternate timeline as to not conflict with canon. Art style is a mix of mostly its own thing, with nods to the Villeneuve, the Lynch, and the unmade Jodorowsky movies.

Still a bit buggy, so beware.

Very addicting. Base building, resource gathering, combat, and, to a lesser extent, water discipline is fun.

8/10 game. Very fun.

Fear and respect Shai-Hulud.

Played it, I think it's great. I'm a little baffled by the mixed reviews. People are entitled to their opinion, and I don't discount that.

Small caveat; I haven't completed the main story yet, but so far it's seems on par with the first Stalker game.

Pros:

- Great graphics, though I have a higher end PC, and only had 2 crashes due to modding or other meddling on my end, but otherwise it runs smooth for me. No stutters or hiccups, but I understand that Your Mileage May Vary.

- Great gun play. Head shots feel satisfying. NPCs are punishing but not too unfair. In general shooting just feels good (in my opinion).

- The world feels detailed. A lot of care was put into it, and it shows.

- Tons to explore, and tons of nooks, and crannies to find.

- Friendly and neutral NPCs feel like they have their own personalities, and lives (as far as NPCs go at least). Random NPCs you come across in the zone make you care about their situations (some don't give you that empathetic incentive as well).

- Plays a lot like the first, just more refined. A small amount of slavjank, but works like it should (maybe that's what the mixed reviews are about).

- Still difficult and punishing, there is an easier mode, but I played on Stalker skill (medium).

Neutral:

- Maybe a little less scrappy than the first.

Cons:

- English localization feels out of place. Brit, Scot, Canadian, and, American accents just feel a little out of place in the setting. You can turn on the intended original language (Just like the movie it was partially inspired from. Seriously go watch STALKER (1979) with subs, but it gets hard to follow with the overlapping dialog. Not good not terrible.

- Mod support is hard at the moment. It's doable for mod users, with some conflicting analyzing and merging mod configuring ( it's easier than it sounds), and it's not always necessary, but from the mod creator side it's a pain.

- Feels like there are less items and guns.

- The MP5 is atrocious, aesthetically speaking. Works great though.

- While the gun play feels great in general, a rifle round to the chest at medium range should kill or incapacitate an enemy.

- More tiny nit picks I could list, but it really doesn't matter or effect the game.

Summery:

Worth it. If you have any reservations, get it on sale. Maybe I just don't get it, but I played a lot of the first Stalker and I feel like it a worthy sequel.

Something to keep in mind is this was made during a war, with devs that had to fight to defend their country. Some devs even died defending their homeland. With that in mind it's amazing they got a game this good out during an invasion.

Buy it, or don't. I'm having fun, and I think you'd be foolish to miss out on it.

Reseña de Acceso anticipado

This game is phenomenal. It's a breed of its own, and you would be doing yourself a disservice by passing it up. The aesthetic alone is worth the price of entry. Considering Fun Dog is made up of concept artists, this should be no surprise. But there is depth here. I am addicted to heading back out to the desolation of the eternal battlefields to see if I can just come back with a bit more loot; to complete that quest, or just to sneak past that squad to make it out in one piece. That being said, I don't know if it's for everyone. It is at its heart an anti-shooter, and while I find that innovative and refreshing, others may not.

The gun mechanics are nice, though unless you choose your targets wisely, you will be overrun in a matter of seconds if you try to take on a squad of soldiers. It's best to be ignored, loot, and shoot when absolutely necessary. I wouldn't call this a stealth game. It's more of a try to be the smallest threat on the battlefield. I've been spotted by soldiers and shot at only to have a mech or tank draw their attention, allowing me to slip back into relative safety. If I had to condense the loot and combat loop into one word, satisfying is what I'd go with.

For the cons: I will put the caveat that this game may be too "early" into early access for some peope. This game desperately needs to be optimized, with some balancing issues thrown in for good measure. It's not unplayable, but there are hick-ups, small amounts of lag, AI path finding needs some work, along with LOD animations and general detail at a distance. All in all, it could use some more polish, but hey, it's early access.

Bottom line: A super unique game made by a studio created by passionate artists that bleeds style, character, and atmosphere. Perhaps not for everyone, since you're not a super soldier gunning down hoards of enemies, but the sneak, loot, shoot, escape style of the game has got me hooked, and I think it will hook a lot more players who might've not ever considered a game like this. Give it a shot, I think you'll be glad you did.

I, like many others thought it looked repetitive and would get stale. Yet miraculously it's one of the most addictive games I've played recently, and manages to stay fresh and engaging. With a dedicated human DM to control the war and cause events it to make it feel somewhat a real war. And there are new features that are just going to get added.

The Starship Troopers angle is fun too, but it does it's own thing with it. SST mocked fascism in an over the top, ridiculous manner (because fascism is ridiculous), whereas HD2 is more of a tongue and cheek lampooning of the US, it's military philosophy, it's allies, and so forth. It doesn't take itself too seriously and is willing to be silly with it without being heavy handed, preachy, or a downer. It's all comedy.

So yes I'd very much recommend this game. Get Helldivers 2 and save the super earth babies that a being slaughtered while you read this review. Democracy NEEDS you.

This is how a remake is done. System Shock and Black Mesa should be the gold standard for remaking old games.
I had a blast with this, even though I hadn't played the original (Sorry I was 4 at the time). That being said there are some things first time players should know before buying.

The original System Shock does not hold your hand in regards to what you have to do next. If you want to play with no help, be prepared to go over audio logs and emails (you can reread both without playing the audio thankfully). Look for keywords and you should be pointed in the right direction. Alternatively you can use a walk-though or even set "Mission" difficulty on the easiest setting and that will tell you what to do.

The best way to think of it is a giant puzzle. It will let you know what to do if you have the patience to listen and look for what to do next.

Pros- It's a Beautiful game. Back when we had to use our imaginations to fill in the blanks for video games, it perfectly fills in those blanks the way your mind would back in the day.
- Has that uneasy sense of "Is there something behind me?" On a few occasions this caught me off guard. Good creep factor.
- Fun weapons and grenades. Nothing feels useless, unless you are playing a certain type of build.
- Tons of secrets, nooks and crannies to find.
- Enemy variety feels perfect.
- Floor layout is intuitive and after a few minutes on a one level or another you will know it by the back of your hand (at least that was my experience)

Cons- Cyberspace is bland, you won't dread it, but you won't look forward to it.
- SHODANs voice isn't great, and voice logs aren't skippable. Even if you picked them up in a previous load.
- Suicide drones/vacuums/roombas are never fun. They drop nothing.
- Small USB/Important items are sometimes easy to miss, requiring a lot of backtracking and combing over levels you've been to a ton of times.
- Having Weapons you want to stick with can run out of ammo and you'll come across ammo types for guns you've left behind.
- Some areas lack enough heath unless you're ok with respawning a bunch of other levels to trek back to where you were

In summery I would highly recommend the 2023 System Shock remake. Nightdive Studios knocked it into the stratosphere with this one.

Get it.

Cultic knows what it's doing, and knows it well. It distinguishes its well versed ideology in the topic of boomer shooters to the point that its clarity of vision isn't muddied by its earlier inspirations. It's elevated by them while offering something completely fresh. The combat is grungy, crunchy, and completely satisfying. Something that hasn't been experienced in this type of shooter for quiet some time.

The Story Mode: 7/10

The Survival mode: The difficulty as well as the different weapon upgrade play throughs gives it some longevity: 7/10

Art Style: 8/10

Weapon Satisfaction/Punch: 10/10

Movement: 9/10

Brownie Points for Satisfying Combat +1

9/10: Worth your time and money.

If you love Quake, or if you love any old school 90's fps, buy this game. Every weapon feels powerful and packs a punch, loads of secrets and fun eastereggs, and gameplay that doesn't hold your hand and treat you like a child.

There are tons of options for personalization such as color palette, weapon size, feild of veiw, and controllable effects to make the game have that retro low-rez look (without actually changing your resolution). It also has replayability with endless wave, and a fun multiplayer.

In short a game that brings retro fps into the present, something the gaming industry desperately needs; a fast Paced, addicting, satisfying orgy of bloodsoaked mayhem.

Oh also you can get drunk, do flips, and smoke a cigar.

Brutal, unforgiving, and authentic."You will be in a world of s h i t". Also make sure you check out the "Woodstock Experince" for that "I thought it would be a good idea to drop LSD in a war zone" experince. I cannot recommend this game enough. "I don't know what I've been told, eskimo p u s s y is mighty cold. mmm good. Tastes good. feels good."
