I started gaming online in early 2002 playing RTCW, and joined my first clan almost as soon as I started playing. I enjoyed 2 years of playing RTCW and getting involved in the online community (I was a moderator of the Jolt RTCW forums and an admin for the Jolt League, which at the time was the main community / competition site for RTCW).

Along with most of the the RTCW community I moved to ET in 2003/4, which is / was a kind of sequel to RTCW, and in September 2004 created www.etnation.co.uk as a community site specifically for the UK ET clan scene.

In 2005 I moved to DOD:S, which I played competitvely for about 18 months, first with 2X and then with RAW, mainly in ED (Enemydown) Ladder and Cups.

In 2007 I moved again to UrT as there were technical issues with DOD:S that had spoilt my enjoyment of the game (specifically the random "Cone of Fire" issue that affected autos). UrT is an old Q3 mod but in 2007 a version was released that used the free standalone ioQuake engine. UrT is fast and furious and I found it both challenging and exciting at first although the gameplay is rather limited (mainly CTF).

In 2008 after the release of the Palermo update (which fixed the COF issue) I moved back to DOD:S and joined =RR= briefly before settling at TnP (Take No Prisoners).

By late 2009 DOD:S appeared to be dying, but most of the scene were moving to BFBC2 which held no interest to me (big maps, vehicles, yuck!). So for something to pass the time I started playing UrT again, and played a season for |FAT| in the Urban Zone and Clanbase Cups / Leagues.

Then TnP started playing COD:BO, which I quite enjoyed, so found myself hanging out with them again, and after a while we collectively moved on to BF3, which was way better than I expected, despite being more of an update to BFBC2 rather than BF2. Through BF3 got to hang out with some old ET buddies as well, Stun and Red. Played some BF3 matches but we weren't very good.

When that drifted away my competitive "career" was pretty much over, not that I'd ever reached any particular heights, but playing organised matches with friends is simply the best way to play online games in my opinion, and I do miss it.

Sine then I've just been pubbing, mainly DOD:S, which is the best game ever made, some UrT from time to time, tried Brink by SplashDamage, developers of ET, but it was pretty bad. From 2013 - early 2016 I was involved in the Alpha / Beta of a game developed by SD called DirtyBomb. It's quite nice, but not a patch on ET, let alone RTCW. Gave up on it in the end because it wasn't a true team-based objective-mode game in my opinion.

April 2016 joined the Alpha for a game called Days of War, which looks very much like a DOD style game, so I have high hopes for that.
