Very immersive, very russian, borderline simulator. Mixes and matches multiple mechanics in a beautiful way to create really challenging and rewarding gameplay where complete failure is a learning experience.

Not very casual experience, requires learning many systems and the tutorials at the moment of writing are lacking at best, but in a sense this adds to the experience.

Ship building is slow but ultimately worth it, as you can pretty much do anything you like

The bugs everybody keeps complaining about make the game that much better, Would unplug a pistol out of my head and stick it inside another mans head any day. haven't experienced such joy since Fallout New Vegas.

Performance on 8700K, 32Gb DDR4 and 1080ti @ 1440p ultrawide without dynamic downscaling is sub par, frame rate hovers around 40's and 50's, but with that enabled is completely playable and graphics look stunning even on low preset. on 1080 resolutions frame rates are very acceptable from medium to high settings at 60+ fps with no problems.

Well worth the wait in my opinion. If bugs are a deal breaker, now its not the time, but for those who dare to wander, many of the bugs are quite hilarious.

8/10 - was 7/10

Good Ace Combat experience, feels like just like I'd expect and is a must for ace combat fans all over
Flying and such are as expected, arcady and made for a gamepad, controls feel responsive and optimization on PC is good.

There are some problems on PC however, such as lack of support for true ultrawide out of the box, tho it seems there are mods to do this. Also there's a lack of support for hotas setus such as the warthog. Only few select hotas setups are supported out of the box. Also lack of mouse functionality is another gripe.
Visuals also get -1 for the design decision that makes your hud effectively invisible under certain lightning conditions.

Otherwise acts and feels just like ace combat should and I love it.

10/10 for gameplay and story and all the ace combat stuff
9/10 for the audio visual experience
5/10 on the PC port lack of functionality.

---This is not a simulator and shouldn't be viewed as one under any circumstances---

Edit: 7/10 for improvements in PC port functionality and added flightstick support
and as a bonus 7/10 for the DLC so far, the new missions add a bit of challenge and good story to immerse your self in

Overal Score rises to 8/10 definetly

Early Access Review
in the 2 hours I played this game I noted especially the ease of getting in to the game, buttons weren't that complicated and after a few matches I got familiar with them and mostly they were good, tho I didnt find anyother way to go up and down than using the arrows and that makes moving forward and turning OR shooting impossible at the same time, but thats only on the default keys I presume, maybe I missed some keys since i never look'd at any of the keybindings or tutorials.
I only tried the flagship, and I can tell it is awesome. a bit weird feeling at first flying so big and slow ship thats getting stuck to corners and stuff but the firepower and damage taking capabilities are amazing.

problems I had with this game at this 2 hours of gameplay? some game rooms had a horrible ping and were very laggy but thats mostly it, besides my own incompetence of not finding keys there's not much bad at this. very interesting genre for me and it's way better than videos show.

this didn't feel like rock paper scissors, more like rock paper scissors shotgun shield sword stick, due to variety in ships and their purpose, flag beats hunterm sniper beats flag, something beats sniper, what ever beats something. but at the end of the day, teamwork is the thing that counts unless your team consists of 4 flagships and a hunter and enemy is 5 corvettes.

9/10 at this early alpha stage, hopefully going to be much larger and varied one day but I like it so far.

I do recommend this game for anyone who likes games like CoD and Battlefield and Insurgency, or anything that goes along with those lines, it's a decent game in every respect. though as I waited an improvement over AA3 well, this doesn't deliver that.
this game has taken a step away from realism and went ahead to the call of duty direction of things, it's not particulary challenging, rather more depends on how precise your aim is at what speed you can do it. this disapoints me alot since I always liked the slower paced nature of its predecessors like AA2 and 3 with far more matter to your movement in all, also the maps seem alot less like combat enviroments and give out more a-symmetric feel in respect to the round structure.
so my opinion on the game, as a game 8/10 because it's good at what it does and its free. true competition to todays 60€ titles in that respect.
my opininion oon the game, as an AA tittle, 1/10, its not anything like it should have been.

This is the single biggest disapointment in early access that for my part has ever been. filled with promises and hopes and dreams, most of them never came. 0/5 wouldn't buy at all, I want my money back.

played in alpha, expected alot, now its released, tried it, it's almost if they had taken stuff away since the alpha tests.
terrain generation bugged alot, weapon variety sucks... meh. performance ain't great
