The core gameplay is absolutely fine. I have no idea why they insisted on having a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lame union angle to this when the company literally owns you if you have died at least once, can turn off your suit's power and any union worker's hab's food and oxygen at any point, they already effectively own the entire world, there is no higher authority to tell them to stop. Maybe you should have not signed the contract saying that Lynx owns you and your clones in perpetuity? I would have gone with attempting to sabotage the rail systems instead of the current lame (oh, yes, we still own you but we'll be nice about it now) ending. And you can't even skip the awful dialogue.

It's a very boring walking simulator and the protagonist has some of the worst voice acting I have ever heard. Like, I don't even know why they bothered recording in English for this, if the actors can't speak English don't do it, just do it in their native languages and sub it. It would be preferable to some E-list "celebrity" desperately attempting to read a script in a language he clearly does not know. It's just painful both for the audience and presumably the poor man who has to read this. I know it's not your fault and I am pre-emptively apologizing to you. You should not have been forced to voice this character.

+Outstanding soundtrack.
+The Skeuomorphic UI interface is fantastic. I absolutely love it, more games should do this.
-I think the ship designer is trash and should be completely replaced.

It's good, like a 2D Splinter Cell. I finished the game on masochist difficulty unarmed and still didn't get the achievement, presumably because a door slam counts as using a weapon.

-Pretty basic enemy AI. It occasionally bugged out, especially in the last level where some enemy patrols would just stop at a location at the bottom of the map and never move until you did something to get their attention. I also don't know why enemies consider a door that you opened as noteworthy when they don't react to a door that has been opened by an enemy.
They'll just look at a heap of unconscious bodies in a bathroom and walk up to investigate and join them 99% of the time,
-The eliminate all enemies maps are very boring unarmed since the optimal strategy is just doing the same thing over and over and reloading if there are three enemies instead of two. I guess they are probably fun if you are using weapons though.
-Even finishing the game unarmed, I still have absolutely no idea how the noise system works. I gave up on using the speaking function and just sprinted a few steps to attract enemies, I still don't know if this actually did something to attract them or if it was just the next step on their patrol route.

It's brainless fun. Not particularly challenging.

I wish America was half as cool as the Japanese apparently think it is.

I was pleasantly surprised by this, I think I got it in a random bundle and wasn't expecting much more than a silly meme game. It's actually a competent detective noir story with excellent voice acting overall.

- I was a bit confused by the car shootout sections, I was wondering if the game was skipping videos or something because you just arrive at your destination after a car chase machine gun fight and no one has any comment on what just happened. I guess they had to force gameplay into the game somehow...

I think all the Hexcells games are great, but if you can only buy one this is clearly the best choice as it has a random level generator and user made levels.

I wouldn't recommend playing this even if it were free. Extremely short, dull, walking simulator. Its only selling point is being weird and it's nowhere near being weird enough to succeed at that. You would get a better experience just watching a video of someone else playing it and skipping past the padding-er, driving sections. Or just listening to the soundtrack.

It's sort of a cross between Diablo (without the ridiculous amounts of loot) and Dark Souls, made before Dark Souls was even a thing. You have to physically move to avoid enemy attacks, gain damage bonuses by flanking and there is no dodge button.

-Flame jellies have been bugged since release and have not been fixed as of 2023, when you kill them their revenge explosion on death hits everything on the entire map. Other enemies' similar abilities are fine and only hit an area around them, so I have no idea why this is even an issue and has never been patched. Just avoid them, I guess.
-♥♥♥♥ whoever designed the Liches, I know you have to be extremely unfortunate to be hit by their permanent level drain attack but it happened to me once and I never really forgave the game for it.

Excellent game. Fantastic soundtrack.
