So far, a very chill and vibrant game with a neat art style. Thanks Humble Choice July 2025!
Lots of cat puns.

Pretty good variety of gameplay on ground, by sea, on the world map and in caves/dungeons.

Fairly chill and casual game given how easy it is to find heal nodes (aka places to take a cat nap!).

Finally get to play a chill farming simulator where you wake up from the matrix and can eventually get bots to help you farm and fight. Thanks Humble Choice July 2025!
+1 Because there's no stamina system.
+1 Because your pet starts out being able to clear, till and water the soil for you.
+1 Because you don't need to gift spam the NPCs of the town.
+1 Because the fishing mini-game isn't a click-fest.

Overall it's certainly an interesting concept with a decent art style, good atmospherics and an engaging soundtrack. The mix of exploration and puzzle solving starts from the very beginning and keeps things interesting. Provides quite a vibrant and chill atmosphere to enjoy.

A generalized tutorial at the start would probably be helpful as controlling the behavior of the sheep and getting the shepherd and dog to follow depending on which you are controlling might not be intuitive at the start. Honestly, I'm still not 100% sure how it works, though it seems like running behind or riding one, is the way you control the general direction of the sheep. NOTE - The dog or shepherd don't seem to follow if you leave them standing on an object (i.e. a rock or an unconnected ledge). So you might have to swap and move them manually until they are on the ground.

The combat could use some work. The impact of hits on enemies doesn't have very significant "weight". Personally I'd like a health bar on enemies too, but the minimal UI elements during play seems intentional. A visual indicator on the enemy's in-game model would be nice instead, so the player has some idea of how close they are to dispatching an opponent.

Noticed that if you pick up and throw the mystic bone while the dog is somewhere it can't get to it, the bone will reset back to its original position.

I'd like there to be an option for the "manipulate" action to be a toggle instead of having to hold the button down.

I think there's been good use of the puzzle dynamics to have the player try and get sheep to specific locations on the map to grab objects to complete objectives. Lots of possibilities here especially since the player can freely swap between the shepherd and the dog. Looks like you can even use the sheep in combat too but didn't really get a chance to gauge how effective they are at doing damage (you throw them at enemies).

Overall I think it has potential, but I think the controls are going to take some getting used to.

Had to use the keyboard arrow keys in order to navigate the main menu and the settings for sound didn't appear to work.

This is a great game for those of us that don't mind having options for turn-based combat without the overhead of action point management.
Liking the faster paced "one click per turn" momentum. Almost feels like playing speed chess rather than a typical turn based tactical game.

Quite an interesting model allowing the player to essentially take 3 times as many turns as the enemies and it's very easy to play since the player always knows exactly when the enemy's turn is. However, it's also easy to be so focused on moving to the safe "blue" squares every turn that you actually end up getting to a point where you're "trapped" and there are no "blue" squares available.

Definitely falls in the category of "easy to play, difficult to master". One key reason for this is that you can't "camp" because everything you can use for cover can be destroyed, plus there are typically enemies on the field that can lob explosives on you even if you are behind cover.

Very satisfying just bullying the mortar guys by rushing them and then popping them when they try to reposition.

Visuals remind me a lot of how they changed things in Moonlighter 2.

As someone who's been a fan of mech games since the days of Earthsiege, Starsiege and the MechWarrior franchise, it warms my heart to see the F2P scene in modern times giving it a run for its money with Mecha BREAK. After all, "back in my day" most mechs didn't have wings, couldn't fly and also didn't have hands.

10 Reasons To Play This Game
#1 - You like big ass robots. And their thicc ass pilots!
#2 - You like massive explosions.
#3 - You like flying over the battlefield raining down death and destruction on your adversaries.
#4 - You could care less about a PVE mode.
#5 - You can't wait to bring a laser sword to a gunfight.
#6 - You're a Mercy main and you just realized Mecha BREAK has healing supports.
#7 - You need something to get an extraction PVPVE fix from while you wait for the next Arc Raiders playtest/beta.
#8 - You have faith that microtransactions won't be that bad.
#9 - You're tired of being trolled by EOMM in Marvel Rivals and need something else new and shiny to play.
#10 - You need to give your wallet a rest thanks to the Steam Summer Sale, so what better way to do that than play something F2P instead?

10 Reasons NOT To Play This Game
#1 - You've been playing so many pixel art indie games lately that you forgot to upgrade your PC.
#2 - You can't risk playing a mech game that might be better than Armored Core VI.
#3 - Games without COOP PVE give you a nervous breakdown.
#4 - The idea of matchmaking against and defeating bots hurts your heart. After all, Skynet did nothing wrong. Bots are the good guys!
#5 - You're terrified of being sniped by "Player Hunter" teams in the PVPVE mode.
#6 - Playing a game with kernel level anti-cheat is against your religion as a gamer.
#7 - You're afraid to overdose on dopamine.
#8 - Hurting the feelings of fellow gamers by looting them at the extraction point is too much to bear.
#9 - You identify as an Apache attack helicopter and none of the strikers really fit that bill.
#10 - You're too busy playing the Terraria update for Palword to even care about this game.

Might be a little rough around the edges for some people in its current state, but with some depth and polish I can see the potential.
  • Tutorial could benefit from going over controls, especially as you get new items to use in combat.
  • The shield block stance could be improved. Barely looks like the character is raising it and there's not a lot of visuals that emphasize the impact.
  • There's something a tad sluggish about moving around during combat. It's a lot easier to notice when you are moving around trying to hit the magic ghost things in melee. They can be pretty clever about strafing around you.
  • Not being able to pan the camera around with the mouse once you are locked on feels off and quite restrictive.
  • Not quite sure how I feel about rooms respawning every time you enter them. Though I suppose it's a way to get your health back.
  • Picking up a random clay pot on the ground and one shotting an enemy with it does feel good. Though I do get salty when the spectre/shade things with the spells dodge out of the way.

Early Access-recension
It may be a bit bare bones out of the gate, but it's been getting updates at a decent rate so far. In a year's time it could very well be something quite special.

Interesting hybrid auto-battler here. Who knew sheep could make for an effective army?

Might not look like much owl the surface, but it's got the foundation to be something quite owlsome!
Attacking is interesting as it's not just a typical "melee" (though you can do it) but you aim till you get the claw icon and then it dashes/swoops and hits so you can just veer off and come around again and repeat to mostly avoid damage.

Instead of relying exclusively on being hard to hit, you avoid damage by waiting until the alert icon appears above the owl and then press dodge. If you don't, it doesn't matter how far away you are from what's trying to "hit" you, you'll end up taking damage anyway.

Would be nice to have some sort of more deliberate indication that you successfully got a kill. Right now you see a damage number and then the creature disappears. Perhaps in a future update dead creatures can have a corpse the owl can eat (for buffs, bonuses and additional experience)?

I think there are only airborne prey in the game. Couldn't find a single small rodent even though there are nests/lairs all over the place. I ended up killing the bear 4 times in a row and it didn't send me to a level where I could find them. Perhaps I just needed to play longer?

Be careful when looting abilities. It will actually replace your currently equipped ability if you don't select a new slot before you pick it up. It should just pop back on the ground so you can switch slots and pick it back up. However, if you aren't paying attention you can easy just swap one and fly off without realizing it. NOTE - You can't make an OP build by collecting duplicate abilities.

There should be an abilities encyclopedia just like there is a Bestiary. Even though you can see this by holding down ALT and checking the tooltip with the mouse, somewhere to see all the abilities in the game would be nice. Speaking of abilities, the defensive one when activated puts a nice cool looking armor plating on the feathers of your owl. Looks quite badass.

Might be more satisfying for the player if each level up gave a skill point or something they could spend in a talent tree.

Looks like you lose all your abilities when you zone into the boss area?! Is that on purpose?

Bosses' health bar bugs out and appears near full even when you've killed it.

The power-up collection approach is cool and encourages exploration. But if ever there was a desire to make it more immersive, you could use catching and eating rare creatures instead (i.e. something that spawns only once on the map).

I do like how when you collect charms that the game literally takes the charm model and crams it on top of your owl. I will admit though, it can look a little ridiculous depending on what the charm is though (i.e. a chair).
