For an idle game it has some mechanics that are fairly interesting like formation positioning and the different traits for each of the champions used. The ongoing quests and new areas are interesting as well and there's value in farming each of them for the global buffs you can unlock to apply to all campaigns.

I've not played all the idle games but this one is certainly different in a way that will keep me occupied for quite some time.
