Word gets around in a one horse town,

It might get crushed, so keep it on the hush,
And then you can flee the scene.










The hat is a metaphor for modern society, while the Engineer represents the commoner. The rising of the hat perhaps may be similar to our own situations, as indeed it does rise up, but to an awkward position that seems to defy the known accepted laws that we have come to know. It is arguable that the ominous "Nope" is from denial or rejection. Though in the end, his head elongates to the same position as the hat. The irony in this being that he ignores this, and continues on as he was.
