Short but great. Most puzzles were fun to solve and made sense. The art is creepy and weird. Just a fun world to go through.
Relaxing point and click.

It's Doom. You need to do something and these demons are in your way. As an experienced FPS player I played on the ultra-violence difficulty and it was a comfortable amount of difficulty without getting frustrating. If you just want to spend a few hours killing hordes of demons with a bunch of weapons this is an easy choice.

Theres some back story explaining why you do what you do and i wish it was voice recorded. Sometimes the game would change resolution and that caused crashes, this got frustrating until i realized why it was crashing. Some issues with falling through the world. For the time i played i would say i only died 3-4 times falling through the world. You decide if that's too much. The story does seem a bit short. I have 24 hours played and that's with me replaying most of the levels 2 or 3 times to get all the secrets. You can replay the classic doom level if you unlock them during the story and there is a harder difficulty that unlocks after you beat the campaign(I didn't do either so you could get a few more hours out of the game). I don't see much replay value since you can unlock everything if you spend the time finding the secrets.

Overall, I like it. I'd buy it on sale though.

Solid puzzle game even if it's a bit short. The puzzles are challenging enough to make you think for a second, but not enough to stump you and discourage play. Overall, a fun and easy game to relax and play.

It’s been a while since I had a game that made me rage so much yet I couldn’t put it down…

TL;DR: If you’re new to strategy turn based games and XCOM in general, play on the easiest difficulty. It’s OK to restart the campaign.

Before we continue, I never played any previous XCOM games and I rarely play turn based games. As a new player I feel like the game could have done more to explain how to play and the basic direction with what to prioritize when researching/building. My first play through I found myself constantly bottlenecked by some resource and then I would have to do 2 different things to be able to fix that, thus wasting a lot of time. I know this is part of the ‘strategy/tactics’ portion of the game, but as a new player, this was a bit frustrating.

The combat is fantastic. I played completely vanilla with no DLC and no workshop mods; I’m sure those would have made it better. When the mission works out, and you can do it smoothly, it’s fun. You will run into times when you have a 95% chance to hit something and the bullet whooshes over their head .. Missed. “That’s XCOM, baby.” Get used to that. My biggest issue is that some of the missions have a turn limit, meaning you need to complete the objective within X amount of turns, or the mission fails/ends and you lose your soldiers.

The game, I feel, gets easier as you progress. Resources become easier to get, your soldiers get better gear/weapons, and as a new player you start to learn which alien is a better threat.

I would recommend this game for anyone that enjoys turn based combat or who wants to try this gameplay. Tons of replay value. Just make sure to drink some calming green tea before you start.
