Fine, Steam - FINE! I'll rate the bloody thing. Suppose I finally am approaching the end of tutorial with these hours.

So what you have is one of the most customizable games out there, where with mods, scenario settings, and difficulty options you can make just about every scenario happen. If you want the game to be "paint map with nice looking structures", you can do that.

If you want it to be absolute miserable survival against all sorts of horrors, with you only ever being allowed one good thing in about a month of playthrough - you can do that.

While mods do allow options, I wish we could disable certain types of raids from scenario settings. But generally speaking, if you enjoy tinkering to get "your vision" of Rimworld to happen, you will find enjoyable time.

If your'e an absolute masochist, you'll still find fun times to be had.

DLC is mostly worth it, for added variety and roleplay (headcanon), but if you don't have money for it you don't need to worry all that much. Mods provide near endless opportunities even without spending more money.

Now lets see how I feel at 2000 hours...

It has the gameplay going for it. Marketing and PR is ran like soviet union. If you don't like it, it's off to the goulags with you.

I mean after a few hours I can say with confidence that balance isn't exactly there, and there's a good spot to play every nation where you can be looking at high winrate as a mediocre player. But at the same time, gameplay is just flat out more fun than world of HP-bars, to me. It might not be to you, and if you're easilly frustrated it most certainly isn't.

So what will you get?
+ Soviet era balancing and PR-team.
+ Actual hitmodels and a scenario where skill and knowledge is rewarded. You'll be very happy when you do well.
+ Content that isn't exactly going to run out within first few hours, and you can actually progress far as a f2p player

- Content that is rather drawn out and you might go slightly crazy before reaching tier 5, especially as a f2p player.

In all honesty I'd give it 5/10 if I were a reviewer, just because it doesn't do anything so well that it blows my socks off, but it doesn't do anything that would make me stop playing it. My hours are mainly because it's the only one of it's kind right now. And for that, I applaud it.

Still great fun with fairest f2p model out of the lot.

Give it a try, if you thought D3 was a bit brainfree.

I can't really talk much about the game itself, I've played it for few games. I hopped on board when they first even uttered a word of the game as I loved the premise, and I've tried to see what's what every 3-4 months to give it a spin, see if it's improved.

Gameplay isn't bad. But jumping Jesus on a pogo stick, are they mad?

They charged for the game, now that I fired the game up again, it's f2p. But instead of... y' know, the usual shmack of games worth of stuff to keep you invested, you get... Tutorial play-money and that's it.

Past business practices tend to be a indication of future practices and in that case... Run, take your visa and run as fast as you can.

But for clarification; no F2P didn't come as a surprise. But the end result in terms of value per pack when compared to competition did. Then again at the time I didn't know competition existed and yes, I fully understood that even if the game would have died a year ago it was my call to put money to an early access title. But that doesn't change that past business practices are a good indication of what's to come

Under no cirumstance should you buy this. The game caused nausea and stomache-ache.

After you've woken up, decided to play one or two games and... Oh, 9 hours have gone by. No breakfast, and your mech is stained in blood of pulverized enemies.

Oh boy, it's another FTL. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥...

Yes, you should buy it. Damnit.

If you hate yourself and want to have a nervous breakdown, play this game.

The ammount of friends I've put in the game and then gotten killed is... astronomical. If you can keep your friends alive, you're better than me.

Oh, and reapers? F*** reapers.

I don't know what to say, I bought the game because of a youtube video that trashed it. It seemed like cheap laughs.

We played few hours and it was actually fun in co-op. Haven't really tried other options but... We got 2 maps down, and plan on doing rest of 'em.

Having said that, if you got frustrated in games like FTL, don't even consider.

I would be one of the first to recomend this. The game's solid and I've got high hopes for the next game. But at the same time, I do feel somewhat cheated having lost 200 hours of gameplay in form of all of my characters, and this is on trendynet. The official ranked server.

Wether Im alone with this issue (Internet told me Im not), or not, does colour my opinion to the negative.

Beside that, the game itself is good. I wonder if I should have sticked to local multiplayer....

I've played it hours, I enjoy it. I also mod it, but far as any new customer goes they should be aware that the project has been since scrapped and left for dead. The game's far from complete and without any actual changes went from "Early access" to full release. Something that shouldn't be happening.

Having said that, the ship crafting is somewhat unique as far as I've seen and I really wish the game would have gotten somewhere, alas it won't be so and paying full price from unfinished early-acess game isn't worth it.

If you see the game for 5€ or so, it definetly gets my recomendation. Otherwise, I can't really say you should ever get it.
