Ancestors: The Human Kind Odyssey, is an immersive survival game that reduces the player, through reverse evolution, back to a mere monkey. You won’t get much hints on what to do, but the gist of the game is to guide your tribe’s evolution through exploration, expansion and learning various genetic mutations.

Embark on a journey which requires a lot of patience. The gameplay can become very repetitive and the cost for failure can lead to frustration, all that hard work gone in an instant. Therefore it’s prominent to be aware of your surroundings at all times.

The graphics are quite pleasant to the eye, with mesmerizing environments and detailed animal life blending in perfectly. The music fits the whole setting and is rather soothing.

I definitely recommend the game, but be aware: it’s not for the impatient player that searches for constant action or adrenaline rushes. It’s a slow, build from the ground up, kind of game in order to reach your goals.

Score: 8/10

On a side note, even though we play as monkeys, there is no banana in sight haha. It should make you mad as a player, but ah well.

Great game to complete in a short amount of time and learn about Norse mythology.
