The amount of variety and content already available in this game makes it the easiest recommendation for anyone that enjoys Tower Defense games. I have exhausted everything there is to do in this game and it's still my go-to game for chilling out with. The fact that it's not even on v0.5 yet makes me SO excited for everything to come!

Of the million things to say, this game is ultimately getting a negative review because it does not respect your time.

If it was meant to be a 30-40 hour obsession with clever puzzles, then I would not be able to recommend it enough. Instead, a potentially touching story and enthralling lore have been blockaded by the absolutely unnecessary level of RNG. The depth of the story and atmosphere are ruined by forcing the player to perform menial tasks again and again AFTER puzzles have been solved.

With Quality Of Life additions as "New Game Plus" additions this could easily be a Game of the Year on EVERY list. As it stands now, after rolling credits ~10 hours in you might as well stop since that's the best feeling you'll get until 90 hours later the RNG allows you to complete something you solved 30 hours in.

I had such high hopes after playing the beta last year, but I feel like the game hasn't changed at all since then. Still feels like a fun beta with potential and absolutely needs some polish.

Others have already mentioned the bugs, but IMO the more egregious issues are un-fun mechanics. I think there are clever tweaks with the difficulty, like making sure you draw specific card types each round - and I wish there was the same attention to level challenges. Several times I have been issued a challenge (eg: "make sure the hostages take less than 10 damage") which is impossible to fulfill (eg: they spawned on the opposite side of the map, with an enemy attacking them for 10 damage on turn 1).

I'll put this back on my shelf and come back to it after some updates

Tedious and kills any fun you try to have - If I leave my allies alone for any longer than a minute, they concede and I lose. This becomes a task of baby-sitting them to make sure they don't kill themselves while we main-line through the map and completely ignore everything else. I can't even get into any fun challenges or power-trip on wiping out an entire base by myself because if I do, they concede as soon as they encounter anyone stronger than a foot soldier.

This game also manages to make you feel so strong it's boring most of the time, while other times you're so weak it's not even fun to try. The vast majority of generals are just tedious to deal with, so the cool combos become boring button-mashing. On the other end of the spectrum, a few generals can execute a perfect series of combos and nearly kill you if you're not constantly watching out for them - which is also a pain to do because you're constantly fighting the terrible camera angles. There are countless times you can't even see who you're fighting, so you can't time dodges or counters properly.

Duels are the only fun to have, and they don't happen often enough to make the slog of wading through the map worth it. Solo wiping out bases would be fun if your allies didn't surrender in your absence, but they do so you can't. I went around wiping up bases once a forward position was secured, but then it's just riding from base to base on horseback with no urgency and, again, becomes tedious.

Very creative world that is interesting to explore for about 5 hours. So unpolished that it's actually insulting how many corners were cut. Feels like it was made by a bunch of amateur devs that have no idea how to tell a story or create an engaging or realistic environment, but they've built on top of a robust system and great elevator pitch.

Don't buy this unless it's just a few dollars and you're okay with not experiencing anything new or interesting after 5 hours. I just started killing everyone to make things more fun, but combat is so mediocre and has no depth, so even that's getting boring. Might finish the game out of spite because it's still kinda fun killing NPCs that were designed in such a lazy way.

If you love the base game, this just builds on it. Wonderfully creative new race, cards, and mechanics! Floored by the quality once again. The price seems a bit much compared to what's already in the base game, but with just how freakin good that game is I'm happy to have paid full price for it.

I played this game on my friend's account for at least 20 hours before I bought my own copy. Each race has a different playstyle, with heroes that have different playstyles, with builds that have different playstyles, and the pickups result in a multitude of deck types that I STILL haven't played all the different styles of! The amount of replay-ability in this game is unreal and so well executed.
