This one isnt bad but....I dont want to recommend it after Sands of Time.

I know for many this was their youth and they will defend this game to death but lets be honest here....its not great.

First of all the combat is more compromised then ever due to one simple design choice:
You cannot sheath your weapons anymore.....this means that when an enemy is nearby you go into combat mode and the camera is permanently locked on to that enemy...and I cannot begin to explain HOW ANNOYING THAT IS, like if you don't even want to fight and just run passed but the game assumes you do, so when you want to jump over some edge to move on, the game instead jumps you back over an enemy, throwing you in the middle of combat, its infuriating!
Or how the lock on just switched between enemies so now your input is completely reverse because the enemy the game now locked on to is behind you....

its just awful.

And then the story.....in the first game there is time travel, but only in the sense that you go back a few minutes and do things different, there is no hopping between time periods as that really quickly throws up plotholes...and guess what? that is exactly that this game does, just annoying done to death plotholes that are extremely transparent and make it hard to give a damn about anything that happens in this game.
The Dahaka makes little sense, the Queen of Time's motivation makes no sense and her right hand woman Shady or whatever....who the hell is she and why is she even in the game other then being literal ass?

And the forced relationship at the (good) end....just...jesus christ.

And the look, it just looks straight up less appealing then the first by miles.

Oh and they made this really bizarre choice regarding the mystical level up sections, they were so well done in the first game and they just made them straight up worse here, its baffling.

Im sure it has fans but I am not one of them.

Still a solid game today.

I just like this title, it looks great and by that I mean sure its dated but man it has a good overall consistency, its a nice whole with good detail and just great art direction, the cloth reacting to the prince running through it still is (sadly) impressive today.

Is there room for improvement? obviously, the combat can be rather annoying (but the sequels are way worse in that regard) and the overall story is...good but a little ermm not present during the game.
Basically you have to get a certain object, 20% into the game you see the enemy transporting that object to the top of the tower...and now you will spend the next 80% just reaching that top of the tower with nto breaks or taking stock of the situation, dialogue between the characters or anything, it kinda loses the plot at times.

But overall this is a very solid game with lots of innovative gameplay, good character moments and certainly character development, bittersweet ending, just solid, pick it up and have a ball.

Ill keep it short, this game just sucks.

Yeah it looks fine and yeah it plays fine for the most part, but so do the other prince of persia games.
The story is completely bewildering nonsense at the start and pretty darn generic when you find out what is going on (and still nonsense) and it ends with even more nonsense both from a story perspective and gameplay...its just wasting your time.

The biggest problem with it is how empty it is, how repetative, this is the staple of Ubisoft games for a while now but this game is very much the embodyment of that lazy game design.

You have to clean areas of "corruption" so you navigate to it and fight a boss...there are 4 different areas with 4 different bosses, per areas you fight that same boss over and over again until you reach the actual bossfight....which is the exact same fight as those warmup fights before it...then you do that 4 more times and....thats the entire game....thats it...

oh well apart from the needless busywork of collecting floaty cloud things...you have to do that in order to progress, its just padding, its so lazy and boring its just amazing, how anything thought this was good game design is beyond me.

This game offers you nothing, just get PoP Sands of Time, that one is pretty solid still....and maybe the sequels though I did not like them much, (forgotten sands is not bad though) but avoid this one.

oh another thing, you know that not dying in this game part? how you cant lose because Elika will save you? yeah that is a thing but it can be WAY more annoying then the sand dagger from sands of time because if you fail this long traversal section, instead of being able to correct that one mistake at the end...Elike puts you right back at the FFing start....great, fantastic....

just buy the others, forget this one.

I love this game, it holds a place in my heart.
Is it flawed? oh yes, but everything else is just fantastic.

This game was made by oldschool Techland, the same people who made the game Chrome which was the name they gave the inhouse engine as well, and you can tell its from the same people.
Its very physical, its very honest.

I remember this game as a tech pushing one, it was one of the first titles that was Direct X 10, I remember at the time that this was one of those games that reviewers used for benchmarking the latest hardware.
And that....is really all I remember it as, it was a mysterious game to me, I knew it only as that benchmark and it being technologically progressive.

Later I bought it on disk, played it for a bit and then never touched it until recently I got all the games in the series and decided to give it a go (same as Chrome btw)

If i would describe this game in one word, it would "ambitious", it just does a lot, tries a lot, does it all work? no, but man do I respect them for it.

The story is solid (until the sequel ♥♥♥♥♥ it all up) you play as two characters, one is running, the other is chasing and the one chasing is pretty much the embodiment of death itself and it is awesome, both have different gameplay and you switch between them as the story progresses.

It is a linear game but it does well to create the idea that your are basically traversing the vast wildlands of early USA.

All in all, its one of those games where you can see what they were going for, and its more then respectable.

Just awful all in all.

Zero love really, generic disaster story, its attempts to scare you are just terrible, it has that typical unappealing Unity Engine vibe about it.
I guess the twist at the end was semi decent but man....what a repetitive unengaging boring as hell nausea inducing game...
I really wonder if the VR experience would be better, I can only hope because otherwise this is a huge waste of digital space that has not right to even exist

Pretty fun game, short, done in like 3 hours and imo too much focus on the survival part.
I think this game could make for an intense survival horror game like SOMA if it wanted to, and it would be reaaally good.

But as is, short but decent, bit repetitive but decent enough.

Mediocre game, not really worth your time.

So I have been playing games/consuming media for some time now, there is not a lot that is new to me.
This game wants to be a bit like Eternal Darkness, a bit Cthulhu mythos esc and in the pages upon pages you find in the game it does a decent job at that.

The problem is that the game itself does not really....erm....warrant it, adheres to it....adds to it, answers to it, expands on it....generally does anything with it.

The game is short, mediocre, vague and ultimately not very interesting, it would be better to just read about the lore then to play this game...hell you are pretty much doing that anyway.

I dont want to be too negative here, the game did not offend me or anything, its just meh at best.
Its not worth your time, better off getting something else.

3600 hours on this game, but its time to write a negative review, and yes I know that sounds crazy after this many hours but lets hear the arguments.

DBD is pretty much a unique type of game, there are no competitors which means its this game or nothing.
At the core it does a great job, the team did a LOT of things reaaally well hence I and so many others played this game so much and will probably continue to do so.

HOWEVER, it is important to know something, this game is still being worked on, like GTA/RD Online, like No Man Sky, like warframe and like so many others this is a game released years ago and just build upon, more content for the players, more money for the developers.

And what is important about that is to know that companies can change how they do things and the reason this is a negative review is how this company has decided to do this, every update they half ass quality checking, they have literally said they only work when they need to, let me be blunt and say that I think BHVR in terms of being money focused instead of community focused is probably the single worst company out there.

So many glaring problems that players have come to the forums for for YEARS now never get addressed and long time visitors/contributors get banned because they say one to many negative things about the developers, moderators on the forums (bhvr employees) are also friends/moderators with/for some of the streamer/content creators in their fogwhisperer program which of course creates tremendously skewed conflict of interest situations regarding the power and freedom those specific streamers have. They can be as toxic as they want against the community and will never see repercussions.

The most recent offence at the time of making of this review is the new DLC, the Resident Evil chapter, DLC that is completely broken and don't think these are the kind of devs who are on it to fix things asap, they take their sweet time, they have your money already anyway, but the RE map to this day since release has not been made active for the game because they simple did not spend time or money on QA.....because why bother right?

Worst still imo is that they made "set cosmetics", set cosmetics are cosmetics that are locked together as one set, usually outfits can be changed between 3 parts but these cannot and obviously cost a lot of money... and its completely transparent why they do so, Jill Valentine's head on her expensive locked cosmetic is EXACTLY the same as her normal head, zero effort....so people would obviously not spend 4 ffing dollars....on that head.....but hey, if you lock it you can ask your 15 dollars and there ya go, minimum effort, maximum profit.

Another thing regarding that, before this update people managed to glitch those set cosmetics, being able to mix and match them, but people were afraid that Behavior, the company, the devs....would BAN them for doing that...... now think about that for a second, how incredibly messed up is the relationship between the developers and the players if the players feel so despised that they are afraid the devs would ban them for mixing cosmetics......

but guess what? happy days, the devs for once actually spoke to the community and made sure everyone knew they would not get banned for it, so yay, happy days! everyone spending waaay too much money to show off their cool thought up cosmetic combinations.....and then the RE chapter drops and that glitch has been addressed..... ez money before blocking it, this is one of those typical BHVR (the developer) moves that is just simply disgusting and worse then just about any developer of anything out there.

Now I could go on EASILY with more, we have YEARS of the same crap with this messed up company. The game is great but the people behind it should not be working on it, I welcome ANY, I repeat, ANY publisher to buy this, fire everyone, and do a better job.

And yeah at the end of all of this, if you are new, just.....dont buy this, play something else, this is one of those companies that wants to milk you for all the money you got when you are new and excited and then you can just leave if the frustrations with the devs becomes too much for all they care, they got your money.
