Before I dive into reviewing the game proper, there's one thing to be said:
This game has one of the MOST MISLEADING TRAILERS ever. One, which has almost enirely discouraged me from buying The Wolf Among Us at all. Having seen a talking frog and a fistfight between two burly hairy men I found myself surmising that this might be some kind of all-stars absurd action-adventure game. Fortunately, it's nothing of the sort.

Contrary, It's a maginificently crafted adventure game with only hints of action (albeit - satisfactory in amount) in a truly noire setting. Think of 'Who framed Roger Rabbit' meets 'L.A. Noire', with truly meaningful choices that have a trenchant influence over the whole of the game and not just individual chapters (or rather - Episodes). All this clad in an apt reenactment of the 3D point-and-click adventure engine we used know and love in the olden days. Though minimalistic in their presence (the game progresses through witty dialogue, more so than through the tedious task of clue finding) the gamplay mechanics serve thier purpose and fit the theme of the game just right.

I shall not venture into the territory of creating plot and/or storyline synopses. These lips are sealed! I had begun playing The Wolf Among Us equipped only in vague speculations about its dark gritty comicbook nature and said lack of knowledge served me well in my attempt to unravel the mystery behind the events in Fabletown. The tv-episode format has proven to be a fantastic vehicle for plot twists and cliffhangers that establish a sense of ever-incrasing tension and inspire the players' need to continue playing through "one more dialogue".

Overall The Wolf Among Us invests the player in the story by means of both: fenomenal writing (the kind a good TV-show would not be ashamed of) and equally good game mechanics used to punctuate the highlights of the game while never breaking the flow of the narrative.

A friend recommended this game to me.

10/10 - would acquaint said friend (in order for him to recommend this game to me) again.

Mind however: Skype* and daring / dashing co-adventurers required.

*Mute the conversation when the narrator has his say. That guy is bonkers! Overshadowed (by a narrow margin) only by the Narrator in The Stanley Parable.

With this expansion Shogun 2 has become twice as amazing. Less flailing katanas around and more shooting your enemies in the back, just like gentlemen would do. Plus, who wouldn't want to mow down a cavalry charge with a Gattling Gun battery!
