Early Access Review
The core of the game is very fun. It's a slower path of exile that works because combat is more engaging and there's more to do in combat.

All in all a good expansion with a story that intends to have a younger audience for the first half than prior expansions-- what you're getting into here is basically a story akin to Steven Universe. It's a fun diversion and palate cleanser after Endwalker, but it is a tonal shift that might not be for everyone. The addition of trusts to the trials as well as those upcoming is promising, and many mechanics have been cleaned up for brevity. The difficulty of mid-tier encounters has been increased considerably, but just enough that it should keep anyone entertained who felt more than confident or a bit bored with later game EW content.

The major characters in the expansion are well voiced, especially Wuk Lamat's VA, who does an excellent job making the character's credulousness and kindness believable rather than trite.

I wish there were more action puzzle games. Lumines is one of the best, although it's fundamentally a different type of finesse from other falling block puzzle games.

Bizarrely, the developers refuse to increase the maximum number of honor points you can set to end the game. This means that many games feel like they're over before you're really ready to be done playing.

You should get at least 2,000 hours of enjoyment out of this game. It's the best in class ARPG currently available.

edit: 01/11/2024 - I can no longer recommend the game; It's been out too long and I've gotten too old to justify some of the tasks it asks of you. For instance, getting a six linked item requires standing in place while doing thousands of individual clicks-- you can't really make a macro to do this without risking a ban, and GGG for whatever reason refuses to make in game tools to do tedious repetitive tasks that you are required to RSI your way through.

This is a very short (one ascension) story based clicker game, driven mostly by a sentient AI that's wise cracking through your attempts to restart a spaceship and various other tasks. While the minimalist art style isn't everyone's jam, the field is constantly active and contains almost all of your buildings. Clicking itself is driven by a particular upgrade that increases baseline production while you're clicking, making it so that consistently clicking a moderate amount (versus clicking as fast as you can) is more powerful.

I finished the game over about two days, and I'd say it takes around 8 hours to fully complete. Overall it was a short, enjoyable story.

This is a fine clicker game. Minimal microtransactions (with none really needed). However, at time of writing (04/08/19) the publisher has halted further development; it may restart at another time after they finish some other project.

Currently, I found that the game has some performance issues. It's chock full of references to other random stuff. There is a rare screen that comes up that asks you to spam facebook, but it's a joke screen that doesn't actually spam facebook. It's also more active than other clicker games, with significant bonuses for clicking fleeing townspeople that have been run off by your zombie horde. Clicking itself can use either the mouse or the keyboard, making tap damage something that can significantly increase the amount of damage you can do, since it's pretty easy to spam asdfjl;kasdfjkl;asdfjkl;.

Overall, I don't hate it, but if you're looking for a f2p clicker in active development and you only want to play one, I'd go with cookie clicker (free, browser) instead.

I played this game as part of my quest to grind through my steam backlog, so I didn't go as deeply into it as some other people might have. This game has great co-op with excellent netcode, meaningful-- but not game breaking-- choices in character development from session to session. Most importantly, the game is an FPS that feels right in the vein that a game like L4D2 might feel right (Versus say CSGO or S.T.A.L.K.E.R). If you're looking for a game that's easy to get into, has a decent (but not overwhelming) amount of depth, and plays smoothly, this is a pretty good game for you.
