Prepare to spend an average of 10-20 minutes finding a game. Then when you finally find a game, don't be the first one to get hung up by the killer, because he will just sit there and watch you die. Seeing as he only needs 1 kill to get a win and not lose rank, that of course is the obvious choice for him. And everybody who's played for a little bit knows this, and won't even try to rescue you, knowing that.

But - should you win - prepare for killers ragequitting, as they are the host everybody will disconnect and you won't get rewarded anything. Which basically means that you've now succesfully wasted 15 minutes in a queue + 10 minutes ingame = 25 minutes.

Other than that this is a really awesome game, once you actually play with proper people! If they manage to fix issues, like making a proper queue system and giving penalties for a camping killer + adding that he has to get more than 1 sacrifice to get a win. THEN - then they will have a really nice game!

So basically unbearably bad when you're not ingame - but really good fun once you get ingame! I'm running it on a rather old system, but it still is sorta badly optimized as well. As I have hopes for the future of this game I would recommend it, although at this state I would wait and give the devs more time to fix their issues with this game. Get it on sale or wait for a bit, but it definetely is good fun!

tl;dr - unbearable outside games, lovable ingame. Buy on sale or wait a few months.

UPDATE: 17th September: The game is now officially infested with cheaters, doesn't seem like any kind of anti cheat exists..

Early Access Review
The game was amazing at launch - so much potential, so much awesomesauce. The combat system was already great, it had so much to offer and they really seemed to know what they were doing.

- Fast forward a few months -

They completely broke the game, it is unbearable to play. The playerbase seems to all agree on this, as the playercount drops drastically by the day. The game was more about exploiting a horrific combat system than anything. The devs couldn't seem to find the balance for the ingame "currency", FUNC, as one day you'd be able to buy 28 guns and the next the guns were finally late game items again. After giving it a fair chance, being persistent about it as I had enjoyed many fun hours with a friend of mine in the game, I too, quit.

- Fast forward a few months -

The game got a major update, so we re-download it and try again. Totally new menu and everything, seems a lot more professional and finished now. Go into the game (at this point on my old PC ... it had a 6950...), the game got a looooot better, but my potato can't run the game. I finally get about updating my PC, the game runs beautifully, the combat system is a whole other than ever before, but it actually works out quite nice. The game seems to be good again! And a bit of the playerbase has returned. Maybe we'll actually get our promising game back?! New map and all, works great!

- Today, March 22nd 2017 -

Update came. Yes. They ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the combat system again. Not sure if the devs even play their own game. Nor understand perks, as a perk got removed due to being having to sacrifice a bit to gain a bit - aka what a perk should be like.

tl;dr - game has a lot of potential, but it's a bumpy ride. VERY bumpy ride in the process of finishing the game. So is the playerbase, and a lot of people have lost their faith in the game. It's VERY fun at times, but it's DOWNRIGHT horrible at other times.

- Buy at your own risk.

Rocket League. Used to be awesome, there was something for every player. The beginner players in one end, the sweaty tryhards in the other end, and everything in-between. The game was developed by a relatively small and unknown company, but they quickly gained notoriety with their release of Rocket League.

Fast forward, they develop small DLC's with new customization options, that you can choose to buy or not to. Everything is great. Personally I buy all the first DLC's, purely in support of this game as I felt like the developers deserved it. Slowly, but surely, this system changes into a plethora of microtransactions and pushing more and more tiny things, whilst the server quality is decaying and the game itself does not seem to improve at all. Suddenly, it went from a fairly free and open game, to being completely censored, with censorship you couldn't disable. At times, it was literally difficult to form a complete sentence, without a majority of it being censored - plenty of regular words, or words of my native language was being censored for no apparent reason. Rather frustrating that this censorship was forced, as I come from a country where there has never been censorship of swear words, not on public TV or radio either. It felt as if we were forced back into kindergarten.

Time goes on, Psyonix is acquired by Epic. Rocket League leaves Steam. Steam players are forced to connect their Epic account to Rocket League. Plenty of people have issues with this. The micro transaction system stays the same. Server quality seems worse, a plethora of reported problems. Luckily I suffer none of those myself. But, the new censorship will have you, not chat banned, but game banned, for literally anything that the bot detects as offensive language, no matter which chat it is written in. You have to watch your sentence forming, as if you were living in North Korea, or they will have you banned from the game in an instant. Even if a questionable sentence is in a private chat, with private teammates, and far away from anyone unrelated.

This, this is how a company effectively and continuously will strangle and end their own game and community. Slowly, but surely downhill. Faster and faster. This has to change, or I struggle to see a future for this game.

Great game! It's a must buy! If you don't have it, you must get it! :-) 9/10 'cause of IW net and not dedicated servers, but I can live with it. It's still a must have!
