The long awaited dream of every hardcore fantasy lover.

Devs sometimes make questionable choices, but overall we have seen great improvement since the days of steam release.

A detailed review into this game.

I decided to give it a try after the update release.
Since i am no stranger to losing, i turned on hardest difficulty and the following is what happened in the next 8 hours of gameplay.

I was aiming to get the 250 years achievement.

On a map with 4 islands, that is me and 3 AI players on the highest skill level.
Years go slowly at start, since you have to minmax economy to gain the best results.

At around year 50 you can safely turn on higher speed just to occasionally pause the game to deal with trouble.

At around year 100 you probably have a developed economy, know your neighbors and already have some kind of defense. This is about the time one of the AIs starts to negotiate tribute, which i refused to pay.
A war ensued shortly after. A bloody one, yet i succesfully defended my lands and at around year 130 set out to conquer the AI player.

The computer absurdly cheats at resources, i wiped out its entire economy and by all means his kingdom should have collapsed in the coming years, yet it did not happen.
My efforts to win the war had by this time been hindered by domestic unrest. The campaign had become Vietnam, or Iraq, or whatever ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up war you can think of that went badly. I had the upper hand, murdered civilians, burned down fields, smashed hospitals and bathhouses, yet the AI still held and forced me to withdraw my units.

Time went by and by the year 200 all my stone and iron deposits ran dry. I was able to trade some stone and iron with a ship that came and went every 3 years. Villagers were happy, i had a good defense and nothing stood in my way to 250 years.

At 250 years my colony reached its peak, at about 1500 peasants. There is no stone on the map for about 50 years now. Repairing buildings is an ordeal, every piece of stone should now be carefuly considered. Same goes for iron.

By this time, the Vikings have come up with a great way to raid, they employ trolls in droves.

Year 300, this is truly the endgame. Stone is impossible to come by, every shipment that randomly does not sell it makes your kingdom weaker for years to come.

Now it is just a matter of time, Economy is in steep decline. Building swordsmen, or any other army type in fact, is no longer viable. You have to maintain a fragile balance of peasants who work and pay taxes and people stationed in defensive buildings. Building an army costs you peasants that get smashed like flies by stronger and stronger Viking armies. Surprisingly dragons never cause much trouble, they are pretty good to boost the mood of your villagers when shot down.

As i stated before, the entire economy is now in a spiral. You can no longer build army, you can no longer maintain defensive buildings. You have no stone, so you can no longer rebuild houses that pay good taxes. That means you can no longer afford more stone.
Slowly, creeping like a plague on the kingdom, comes the inability to purchase anything. Then suddenly there is no money left to pay defensive buildings and hospitals, not to mention taverns.
Villagers are angry, they no longer reproduce (the kingdom does not attract new people).
Spiral swirls and you get overthrown.

The game ended for me in year 317.

Celkem pěkná hovadina na těch 500%. To chce člověk popravit jednoho zombozmrda a najednou jich je tam 100, vole.

Taky mám vždycky radost, když jediná tráva je hned u měst plnejch těch kokotů plesnivejch.
