The Vanishing of Ethan Carter - Redux

Heya folks!!

I've been looking to get this game for some time now. I was not sure about buying it tho, even with the positive reviews it gets now and then. So I was just trying to find someone who would trade it for something else. Didn't get much luck there. So you can imagine how happy I was when this game got on the Humble Bundle along with few other interesting products.

To the game review now.

The game kind of "warns" you about not guiding you all the way around. So yes, you are simply thrown into the game without any knowledge what to do exactly. But hey, it's pretty much intuitive (to be honest - I did get lost for like 30 minutes once and I also accidentally skipped the first puzzle). The first few steps did give me a bit of creeps but I got over it pretty soon, because I got overwhelmed by the AWESOME environment and BRILLIANT soundtrack. The scenery is simply beatiful (if you don't mind the fact that people got murdered here and there) and the game will slowly consume you as you progress through it and through the story aswell. Sure, you won't probably like it if you are that trigger-happy player that loves chaos, mass destruction and ability to tea bag every dead body you see. But hey, it is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nice piece for taking a break from, well, basically from everything. You can pretty much play it as slow as you want to. So grab yourself a cup of tea or hot cocoa, pack of cookies and enjoy the game!

Pros
  • Immersive environment along with excellent soundtrack.
  • Mysterious story that won't let you uninstall the game until you finish it.
  • A relaxing pace of the game.

Cons
  • You may get lost from time to time (its a puzzle game, duh).
  • Can't really think of anything else right now.
