As a fan of the Anno series, I pre-ordered the game out of "desperation" since they said that it won't be on Steam. Period.
Well guess what, after 3 years, now it's here.

Nice bluff, Ubisoft.

Game is great.
Ubisoft? Nope.

Played for 20 hours during a free-to-play weekend (other 7 hours is after free-to-play duration), enough to discover how meh it is.

Played it at 75% difficulty, excited to play and discover the game.

Flaws:

1. Game UI is horrendous, can't adjust the size at all.

2. A micro-management game without number of idle workers, just "carriers" which are mixed between kids, adults and elders. You can set the amount of carriers but you have to mathematically calculate in your mind how many of the carriers can actually work in other workplace.

TLDR: No idle worker menu, extremely tedious.

3. No option to build upgraded buildings right away, lets say you researched an upgrade for an outhouse. Guess what, we still expect you to build an outhouse, wait for the construction to be finished, AND THEN click upgrade on each outhouses (if you want to upgrade 10, you'll have to individually click upgrade on all 10 of them).
That's excluding gathering workplaces, by default only 1 worker will work, but you can open slots to pump it up to 3-4 workers. Upgrade the workplace, and it goes back to default again... 1 worker.

Again, tedious.

4. Since the UI is really bad and you can't upgrade groups with a single button, good luck finding those wells sitting in a dense forest. You'll have to hover your mouse everywhere on the screen to find them.

5. Outposts are guano, only one worth enough is the research outpost. The worst is the medical outpost. When you build a medical outpost, you would expect the entire zone to be active and open for healing your specialists, but no. You have to walk them to the medical post and wait like a good little puppy for 3 turns to heal 1 specialist. 1!!! It's faster to walk them all back to the base from the edge of the map (8-10 turns) then to wait all 4-5 of them to heal fully (12-15 turns).

6. Gathering knowledge for the main mission is halted unless you do what they want, you know the one which takes 2 days to get it up to 1%. But now it's halted unless you walk your specialist 4 turns away to complete the restriction.

7. Cars have a weird mechanic of being a convenience and a nuisance. Any cars you get into, it will drop everything your specialist find before this in the car, as to "avoid loot being dropped if specialist gets killed by bandit". They could at least made it an option, but noooo. Now, in order to get the loot, you'll have to drag the car back to base because the loot is now stuck in the car, not the specialist. And you can't reuse the car again unless you unlock an upgrade via research. Doesn't matter if the car is 90% hp or 20% hp, you can't reuse them until said upgrade.

8. Maintenance depot is awful, rather than they work independently in the area nearby, they only work in a circle you assigned them to. I say awful because on its own, they can maintain about 35-40 buildings easily if fully staffed. But now, they're confined to this puddle of water with 4 radioactive fisheries and you have to build another depot to cover a nearby area because it is out of range.

Strength:

1. Constructing things are easy enough, storage doesn't cause an issue even if they're stored really far away and doesn't cause logistic problems.

2. Catastrophes is diverse, unique enough and makes you on your toes. You think you have enough until you get hit with a pandemic and 1/4 of your population dies because you didn't have enough water and no water leads to poor hygiene, and poor hygiene leads to easier infections and that leads to your medical facilities overburdened.

3. Combat is OK-ish.

4. Side scenarios are decently surprising until it gets repetitive.

Conclusion: The game is a meh 5/10. It tries to be a mixture of Surviving Mars, Civilization series and Frostpunk but is really really really subpar compared to those 3 games.

If you want micro-management, just go Surviving Mars with the Green Planet DLC. The 4 terraforming criterias are similar to the "gathering knowledge" in this game and feels more rewarding.
If you want turn based game with actual progression, pick Civ.
If you want crippling depression everytime you hear the bell ring each time a survivor dies from frostbite, pick Frostpunk.

Took some quest on killing a boar, turns out to be the Kalydonian boar
proceeded to die for about 49 times (yes I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ counted) in the next 2 hours,
and was on the brink of rage quitting.

On the last time,I had a stage 4 bounty on me from killing a king
and I lured the mercenaries to the boar.

They massacred the boar and its little piglets to pieces.
*cough* easy quest *cough*

10/10 would lure again.

AVOID THIS GAME FOR NOW.

At first, like many others, was absolutely intrigued by the witty remarks and humor approach of the game.
And I didn't even hesitated to buy it since the 1st chapter showed great potential, with nice graphics and non-linear storyline.

But that was back in October 2018. It has been close to 7 months, with ZERO (yes, zero as in none existent, empty blank zero) updates and the only thing they keep updating is quirky news, belittling early access buyers for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ how long we are waiting,

I won't recommend it, until they have released more content for the insurmountable amount of time that we had to wait.

Melee is terribly sluggish even on a 1v1,let alone multiple foes at once.
Drops are decent and not too hard to find, except ammo and medicine, which bears the reality of how a post apocalypse zombie infection should be.
Would review the game more as I progress.

The first time I saw the price tag for the game, I was skeptical at how it was going to be. Usually one of those poorly narrated quests with grinding and repetitive sob stories and linear gameplay. But not this one. This is atleast twice if not more the value that it brings.

The overall story is very well done, with plot twists and intriguing story backgrounds for the npcs that you would think is just your average npc. Like a chicken who calls you mama turns out to be a Voidwoken or a lava slug that turned out to be a princess. You could be anything you want(Literally, mage with dual hand daggers? No problem!),villain or hero, righteous or chaos, it will affect how you approach each encounter.

You could have someone with barbarian to strong arm them, and intimidate, or have a guy maxed with persuasion to make things easier.

The skills and spells in the game are truly amazing, both aesthetically and strategic wise. You could go all ham, or thinking out the best position for yourselves for 15 mins to get the best outcome, then execute.

Overall, super fun, lots of replayability, great game that actually requires strategy and positioning to win, and worth the value. Get it!

It's all fun and games until you play the game, go to the mountain with a seaglide and get spooked by your roommate opening the f!@#ing door.
