I don't know about other hybrid RTS RPG games out there, but SpellForce 3 did it well and I had tons of fun playing. This is just the review on the single-player campaign.

The good things:
- RPG and RTS elements blends well and it works.
- Smooth gameplay.
- Good story. 7.5/10. There are times when I did not expect the plot twists, there are times when its cliche.
- Breathtaking visuals. Take the time and look around the maps. Its beautiful. From a fantasy city, lush forests, to scorching desert, the maps captured the fantasy feels.

But because its a hybrid between the two genres, it lacks a bit when compared to other more focused RPG or RTS games.
- RTS part is simple, not much micro-managing your army as theres not much units with special abilities. You use your heroes to spam abilities.
- RPG part in terms of heroes' builds is not too advanced or simple. Remember, this is a hybrid rts rpg game. Shouldn't be compared to Baldur's Gate or something.

Some downside of the game that I thought of:
- The maps are few and was reused a number of times.
- Each maps are too large while your heroes and armies move a bit slow for my taste. Recommend taking items/ abilities that increase movement speed.
- Weapons and Armors especially of the legendary ones could've been better. Mediocre stats and not much choice for the "fun" build imo.

SpellForce 3 is a good game generally. Fans of RTS that also likes RPG character-building would love this game. Fans of fantasy genre would also love this game as it captured the fantasy-feeling pretty well. The world's lore is also interesting, it made me read the wiki. Discount or not, I think its worth your money.

If you're just a casual ARPG player seeking another hack & slash Diablo-ish game, or you're someone that wants to get into those kind of games, then just ignore all those bad reviews. You'll have fun playing Wolcen. It covers the basics of these type of games. I recommend playing with Slayer's Flurry build.

But if you're a vet that plays PoE, Grim Dawn, or any hardcore arpgs, and you love grinding the game to the brim, you'll probably won't want to play this. It's not bad imo, but the the endgame is, for an arpg, kinda short. I played other arpgs yet still think this game is fun to play.

ALSO. BUY THIS GAME AT A DISCOUNT! While I said this game is fun to play and all, in my hours of playing it, it crashes quite a few times. For a game that has been out for a couple of years, its unacceptable. Still, like I said, I enjoyed playing it.

Great game. Very steep learning curve. Takes time to master or even understand the basics. But you'll enjoy it when you know how to play. Tons of roleplaying options. Takes 1K+ hours before you got bored. But then, new dlc and updates introduced. One of the best game dev team out there. Really care for the game.
