Warrior kings battles is amazing RTS game. Graphics is definetely outdated, but not unplayable. It has amazing tech system, economy system and battle system. You have 3 different paths: Church, Pagan, Tech, and you can combine church or pagan with tech to get something in between. Units go from basic spearman and archer to incredible monsters, cannons, angels devils purely amazing. Resources are food infinite, materials and gold. Your farms can support certain ammounts of units giving less and less food (used as upkeep). Units have formations, archers have ammo and there is also battle logistics carts to help aid your troops with food for healing and supply archers with extra ammo for materials.

All in all i suggest you try out this game on a discount and have a nice blast. I do hope this game gets it well deserved remake with newer techologies.

Have you ever wanted to play a strategy game? If yes then this is perfect game for you. American Conquest series are one of the classic RTS games. I am huge fan of this series and I can recommend this game to anyone.

Technical stuff:
Well you can say that this is one old game. It is 2D, but do not be fooled. Graphics in this game are quite good and it is timeless. Due to its requirements it is quite easy load game and thanks to steam you can play it on newer systems with no glitches. There can be thousands of units on the battleground and you will not experience any lags. Engine is based on cossacks series with little improvements, and that engine I have to say is quite good. Sounds are nice too and will not affect you in anyway. When you first time run the game, you should adjust the game speed since on newer computers game will run on insane speed.

Gameplay:
It is classic RTS game but unique. There are different civilizations with their unique gameplay. Common ground is: every building which has units placed inside it will fire something (bullets, arrows, cannonballs). To produce soldiers you have to put some peasants into production building and turn them into soldiers. Workers can be captured if there are no units guarding them (you can't steal civilization like in cossacks), although some nations are exception (indian mostly). You can storm buildings (send your units into enemies building, and if you overpower garrisoned ones you overtake the building and it becomes yours. Mines can be captured same as workers. There is morale mechanics where soldiers can become frightened when too many die, from gunshots, cavalry, etc. Units have basic stats: slash/pierce attack, base armor, HP, morale. storm force. If they are armored they will have resistance to gunshot, arrow, scatter shot, pierce/slash attacks etc. There are various unit upgrades and economic upgrades. There is famine mechanics where workers and soldiers will die if there is no food. Food is farmed using Mills which automatically plant squares of wheat or corn. There are 2 gatherable resources: food and wood, while stone, gold, iron and coal are mined in mines. Buildings when dmg for example with fire arrows will start burning and if not repaired with workers will easily be destroyed. Also when shooting arrows or bullets into garrisoned building, the ones inside will die.

You can categorize nations into 2 factions: European nations and Indians. Europeans start with peasants building a fort. Fort is like 1st tier barracks which produces 3 types of units: Heavy armor pikemen, harquebusier (heavy armor rifleman), musketeer and 3 officers types: drummer, flagbearer and officer for making formations. Once you build 3 officers and enough single type soldiers (15,36,72,120,196) you can make formation which provides base armor and dmg (one flaw would be that while in formations soldiers get dumb and won't move as you command them, they will stop at certain points). Workers are built using houses T1 and T2, and main upgrades are placed in town center. There is church to build priests who act as healers only. Shipyard builds epic ships and gunboats as ferries as transports. After than using mines mine stone and gold and build fortress which is stronger barracks. It can train musketeers too. officers, and fusiliers from infantry. Fortress is also place where you upgrade it with stables to produce cavalry and artillery depot to produce single type cannons. Regarding firepower Fortress is impregnable and is hard point to capture/destroy with indian nations. Cannons are game finishers produces slow and expensive, move slow (kinda retarded movement) but they pack quite a punch and can have range even half the map. True epitome of artillery.

Indian vary much, from mayans, delawares, iroquois, sioux each with unique gameplay. Indians rely on quantity and arrows, build buildings much faster since most require only wood. Some indians do not use mines (sioux). Indian can also build formations using chief and shaman which are produced ridiculously slow. Some indians have fortresses (like aztec, maya, incas), while others use barracks to make soldiers. Indians soldiers are pikemen, archers and single type cavalry and each indian nations is quite unique but in raw firepower and armor none can reach european nations. Shipyard plays better role for indians since it can produce fishing ships and war canoes which are good siege artillery unit.

So gameplay starts with nothing but few buildings, ends up with big town which produces massive armies whom you use to peel your enemy off (hit mines, hit mills, hit storehouses, basically pick off his economy). There is campaign, single players maps which are autogenerated, battle simulations. Maximum number of players on one map is 7. Map sizes go from small to epic (and epic is quite the distance). I have not played multiplayer since I find AI quite strong and challenging and when you finally overpower him it takes ages to finish him. And he can recover fast.

All in all game is fun and relaxing and if you enjoy playing RTS games, you should buy this game. I will continue updating this review with more details as time goes.

I played this game and have to say it is quite fun.

Your team VS dinos it is like zombie survival. At first you start with your basic gun, then as you progress in one battle you gain money which you use to customize your gameplay. Also as you play you level your characters globally which allows you to later start battles with more free given items and skills, rather to buying them again in each battle.

They are various weapons from guns, SMGs, rifles, snipers, special weapons like bow, grenade launcher, minigun, and the same ammount of different skills and upgrades you can buy. Also there are venicles ingame like jeeps, cars, tanks, helicopters.

Enemies are either dinos or other players depending on game mode, pve, pvp, etc. Dinos varry from small triceraptors to big animals like T-Rex. Waves go from easy to harder and harder. Game difficulty can be influenced by setting game parameters like: max HP of dinos, max damage, number of small dinos per wave, number of big dinos per wave, ... (50%, 100%, 200%, 300%, ...). The harder you set your difficulty, the more experience you gain per battle and ofc more fun :).

Game does what it is meant to do, get it cheap, have a blast playing dew battles, give it a rest, repeat :D.
Nothing is better than taking a small simple game and releasing your stress and some dinosaurs with your friends.

Kingwom Wars I still remember my thrill when I heard about this game being released. If I had to explain this game in one sentence it would be: The game is like Travian, Tribal Wars, ... but in real time 3D RTS mode.

I have little play time on steam, that is because steam release was buggy at start, it payed off more to play using official launcher, meaning not using steam. The gameplay is simple, you start with a town which you upgrade. It has no deep depth of techology, it is rather simple and straight forward. You do not even need super strong economy to get decent army. I mostly play Elfs since I find their economy and troops most suitable to me (Archers :) ). Game has single player and multiplayer side which do no differ too much. You can play singleplayer offline with no problems, multiplayer gets you closer to other players. Multiplyer is same as singleplayer but you can go into CO-OP battles with other players, either with or against them. Maximum players inbattle are 2v2, which is kinda limiting. Guild/Clan/Alliance has meaning in terms helping each other during attacks. Game itself looks like Total wars series where troops and cities are managed on global map, while battle itself is in spirit of total war series where 2 armies clash. Combat system is same as with total war series archers(mounted, foot, crossbows), infantry(heavy knights, pikemen, swordsmen), cavalry (one type mounted knight, elfs have mounted archers), monsters with orcs etc. Each unit formation could lvl till 20 and had stat points for you to manually upgrade which provides decent ammount of depth. Each unit type has its special skills, where some have to be researched using crows, which are acquired with battles and quests.

At start it was that simple, during time game developers kept close contact with comunity and invested great time to fixing bugs and providing new content. At release time game was once time purchase, now it is free to play model with premium. New content added mages, dragons, dwarfs, new heroes/special units, sieges but for all of it you need massive ammount of crowns which arent easy to get. There are also some bugs where you spend 250 crowns, but s*it happens, server reverses your upgrade and town state and u lose 250 crowns which finally made me quit game.

Game itself is fun and worth playing, developers are moving forward and wont forsake the game, but KW2 is comming and you can feel that they are more focused on that release. Have fun it is nice game.

Let me keep this one short:

  • Do you own this game? Yes: good human being, No: What are you waiting for?
  • AOE is classic RTS genre defining game. Gameplay is polished and perfected over the years with still huge active playerbase. AOE 2 HD version simply made game with HD graphics which is nth special. Graphics is still same, just that new computers can run it with no problems. It is basically a patch. New aspect is multiplayer which was adjusted for steam network. Old network model was direct IP/TCP connection using some 3rd software, now you can only play network game on steam playerbase. New content like forgotten empires are now DLC model, meaning after buying game buy more content.

I will keep this one short. Nuclear Dawn is RTS/FPS mixture, similar to: Natural Selection 2, Savage 2:Tortured Souls. Regarding graphics/sound game is made using source engine therefore you will not find flaws there.

On the other hand gameplay has much space for improvement:
  • If you plan playing this game as commander, I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT. Reason is simple, commander gameplay is boring for following reasons: 1. You main job is to build structures and repair, which requires resources. 2. You can affect other players by using powers which are limited and expensive (heal, poison, pure dmg, place barricades which are useless), or by using turrets/artillery which is also expensive. From my experience commanding is building, begging players to cap/defend/attack and if that goes well you push your base forward until you zerg enemies base with turrets (missile and close range-sonic/fire) which can be done only if u control almost all resources on map and that is usually the finishing move. Chances of you being comm are low, and if players or you "suck" that game round is waste of time. Like NS2 and S2TS commander heavily depends on FPS players and is pointless to play game in that mode. If the genre would introduce diff design like: comm making BOT AI soldiers which can be possessed by FPS players, comm could instruct BOT AI to follow his orders, and FPS players could have the role of "Heroes", either it is just my humble opinion.
  • Gameplay as FPS player is quite fun. You have many classes/subclasses, and if you combine your gameplay with other players you are in for a fun ride. If you plan on going solo around the map, you could do that with stealth class but that would be a downfall with low player count match. Game round from FPS perspective is: spawn, capture resource points, die defending it, respawn. Beg commander to place new spawn gates closer to fighting area. Regarding FPS aspect of game I RECOMMEND IT.
  • As the game launched it was big hit. At the moment of writing this review there are 4 servers active, 2 in NA and 2 in Europe. Game still has some players playing, but not as nearly as much as it had at launch date. Many clans have left ND (like TAW), and if you are new player you will mostly play against hard core veterans (lvl 80). I myself am 74th level, Level diff won't affect gameplay. All that matters is your skill and knowledge, luck and good teammates.

All in all it was a fun game, still is. If you are willing to give it a chance try it you are welcome to increase playerbase :D.
