I've featured two of my all-time favorites and two recent game crushes in the showcase below.

Knights of the Old Republic II and Stanley Parable hardly need a shout-out. Both are awfully clever games that deconstruct video games themselves. At the same time, they're also just fun to play. Both of them deservedly made video game history.

KeeperRL is still in Early Access and could use some exposure. Think: Dungeon Keeper meets Rimworld. Complex, but not overwhelmingly complex, just balanced right.

Rebel Galaxy had a fairly big release in 2015, but reception at the time was undeservedly muted. It's the Privateer reboot we never got from Origin (let's pretend Privateer 2 doesn't exist). Great lighthearted fun, with mechanics and graphics that are seriously polished for a low/mid budget title.

If you haven't played them yet, give them a try.
