If the ref says its 8 mins extra time its 8 mins of extra time and not 7. Croatian players were basically emotionally celebrating their win already in their heads, they became so lost their concentration and thus Italy, who fought until the very end, managed to sneak in a goal.

Even if the ref was rigged, which I absolutely disagree with, Croatia should be able to avoid a draw by just defending the ball more, or even wasting time with the ball by passing it around. Instead they basically gifted it to Italy on numerous occasions.

You play until the whistle is blown, not until there is 1 minute remaining.
