This game is very good. I was reminded of it again by Mandalore's video, so I finally took the plunge! It's great. It's also very (appropriately) weird. Many spiders and mosquitoes. It reminds me of an old Unreal 1 mod or that game Rune from way back in the 90s. The story and writing is fun, and equally weird.

I've got a few complaints that I think hurt the experience a bit, but they don't stop the game from being a beautiful thing.

- The game's got a decent bit of jank, particularly with collision and terrain. It can just get a bit difficult to go up certain stairs or slopes that are intended, without a bit of finicky jumping.
... But the level design is great. The way it loops around, it unironically reminds me of Dark Souls and it keeps me guessing while also feeling pretty smart.

- The lack of auto-saving has hurt me quite a few times. I had to reset quite a bit far back. I've gotten to the point where I bound quick-save to middle mouse button and just spam it frequently, which I think breaks the immersion a touch. Maybe an auto-save slot, auto-saving on critical item pickups or shortcut unlocks would be ideal.

- I'm not sure if all the weapons are ranged (so far they are) but I find I really struggle with the large crowds of enemies. Circle-strafing in a room as they all ball up, but not having any AoE attacks, feels a bit weird. I left off last night after fighting a crowd that I simply couldn't avoid getting hit by, so I'm not sure if I'm missing a key part of the 'dodging' gameplay. I suppose I just find a lot of enemies to be a bit spongier than they should be, but it's forgiveable - you do overcome the fights.

Anyway, buy this. it's great. Fun journey.
