This game has a lot of untapped potential.
The gameplay itself is pretty solid, the progression feels pretty good and each gear piece feels like it makes a difference.
BUT.. The UI is horrendously bad, there are more menus than you can possibly fathom. Navigating most of them is just painful.
None of the old seasonal mechanics are introduced to the player, so you kinda just have to stumble around talking to npcs in town, and google your way through figuring them out.
It's a lot like a house with foundational issues, but instead of fixing those issues, you just add an extra coat of paint on top to hide them, every season.
The most egregious problem? The cash shop, it's obscenely greedy and scummy.

I personally consider Torchlight: Infinite to be an aggressively mid game, a 5.5/10.
You're better off playing PoE/PoE2/GrimDawn/LastEpoch/D2, Even D4 is better than this game and D4 is sh*t.

Early Access Review
There are things to enjoy in this game, but the save system is such a massive detractor from the experience.

They've been developing this ♥♥♥♥ for over 10 years man.
Hero Siege 2 is just a straight up downgrade to Hero Siege 1 (Which was a BUGGY mess)
It's one of those things, you know there is potential there, so you keep going back to taste the turd.
Every time you taste the turd, it still tastes like ♥♥♥♥

Edit: Lead dev acting like the POS he is, what a surprise

Edit2: Currently trying Season 6, and to no ones surprise, the servers are STILL total dogsh*t.
Also a special shoutout to all the hero siege shills that will turn a blind eye no matter what happens. You guys are a special kind of stupid.

Visuals and animations are good.
Story is passable.
Music is pretty solid.
Translation is god awful.
If dialogue that makes absolute no sense and massive breaks in continuity because of dialogue being broken is a big enough turn off, I would suggest holding off on buying it until it gets better.
Otherwise worth the pricetag imo.

Early Access Review
Yes, there is not much to do it in the current game, true.
BUT.. The stuff you can do is extremely polished for an early access title.
The character customization is superior to pretty much all other arpgs on the market.
You can get different effects from your stat points, each skill has a skilltree, each class has subclasses with skilltrees. There's an ancestral legacy node tree(You can't do much with this yet) and there's also extreme customization with items.
Weapons are not dropped the same way as in traditional arpgs. Weapons are basically a 1-off find and can be treated sorta like pokemon. They can evolve when they hit certain levels or kill score, some weapons can even fuse together with others.

Again, very little content, so you'll be farming the same stuff over and over. But hey, I got 50 hours out of it because of the customization alone.

Seems like this could be a very decent title with a few QoL changes.
Just to name a few things that I think would help a lot:

- Let us turn off the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ android voice, please.
- Why are we forced to go into the city, facing the same boring enemies EVERY TIME to sell stuff? It's actually such a silly "feature" and it just makes the player hate his life.
- HEAVILY tone down the disorder/trauma system. I did ONE mission and each of my 3 units got 5-7 disorders and traumas. IN ONE MISSION.

On a side note, just adressing what I think is a massive issue in the game:
- Balance is really just ♥♥♥♥♥♥, you go from the easiest missions on the planet, to random boss battles that are near impossible. Some of the unit classes are just straight up worthless (bodyguard, techie just to name 2)
The normal missions just running around exploring, killing dudes or looking for stuff works fine, they're a little repetitive, but that's fine.

Also a MASSIVELY missed opportunity to have a cyberpunk/dystopian future themed game but not using any of the fantastic music artists out there. This game could've been absolutely MINT condition with some Pertubator, Carpenter Brut, Toxic Avenger, The Midnight.. Just to name a few.

tl;dr I like the game, it's fairly fun, but there are some really annoying features and RNG elements that heavily detract from the game experience. Is it worth 16.99€?(At the time of writing this review) Maybe.

(If the game gets some love from the devs, I'll revisit the game in the future, and hopefully give it a nice recommendation)

I have always been a huge fan of Tower Defense games, so picking up Taur was a no brainer. I am not very creative, so instead of writing long sensible paragraphs, I'll do pros and cons.

PROS:
- Graphics: Game looks absolute fantastic, I love the art style. The explosions are just beautiful, and there is a lot of them.

- Difficulty: Game is actually genuinely hard in the beginning. The boss that happens on day 50/75/100 demolished me the first 2 times(I won the 3rd!) Some waves are extremely random and hard to predict which adds to the the difficulty.

- Gameplay loop: It's fun, it's engaging, there is a lot of upgrading and researching between rounds.

- Skills: Fairly large skill tree, most of the upgrades are kinda dull and unintuitive, but it kinda works.

CONS:
- Sound: There is literally no music apart from when you're in the campaign menu. The gun/explosion/tower sounds are fine, but I had to play my own epic space battle music to add to the experience.

- Content: Or lack of. There is at most 10-12 hours of content in the game at the moment(I stretched it because I enjoyed streaming it) There is a so much room to grow in this game, I feel like this is more of an "early access/beta" kind of thing where you get the shell of a game.

- Heavy RNG: You can get royally screwed by continuously getting the wrong resources from missions. Some missions are also just straight up very very difficult, and sometimes all 3 options end in defeat.

- Severe lack of strategic options: This is a pretty big one, there is much room to grow here. You can basically SELL/DEMOLISH ANY structure on the field for 100% refund. Downside to this is that the tile becomes UNAVAILABLE for the remainder of combat. So you can't make a strategic decision on the fly, you just gotta play with the cards you dealt yourself on the campaign screen.

- Poor balance: Prime weapons are terrible. Atleast until you manage to upgrade the destroyer. Some waves are just insanely hard and ridiculous on some maps. Skill tree gives you 0 options to increase tower damage/speed etc. So your only options are massing more structures that you can't change on the fly.

- Air waves: These are absolute butthole, sorry. They're just annoying, tedious and way too long. The anti air weapons for the prime are garbage to say the least :( Even with 8 SAM sites, using beefed HAVOC these waves still take like 5-10 minutes.

OVERALL:
I enjoyed the game. It's fun, is it worth the 20.99€ price tag at the moment? Probably not. If you're a huge TD fan? I'd pick it up and hope it gets updated soon. Because of my personal bias towards the genre and because the game looks f*in sweet I'll give it a positive review.

I will probably come back and edit this review at some point in the near future, It's a little rushed and there is some typos here and there.

Might stream it more in the future at twitch.tv/YummerTV (Shameless self promotion PogChamp)

I tried so hard to like this, I really did.
But it's just not possible in the current state of the game.

Successor to D2? pffftt, this game has faar surpassed all expectations and has become a better ARPG than anything ever created before.

Give this game a chance, the first few hours might be rough, but once you start chiseling out your character, the pure level of depth will sweep you away.

10/10 game.
