Slay the Spire masterfully blends roguelike progression with strategic deck-building. Each run feels fresh thanks to the variety of cards, relics, and enemies. The difficulty curve is fair but challenging, rewarding thoughtful decisions and experimentation. It's easy to pick up, hard to master, and dangerously addictive. I especially appreciate how the Steam achievements are actually reachable—not locked behind random luck, but tied to real commitment and skill.

This game suffers from balancing a lot.

Don't get me wrong, the art is fantastic, the game mechanics almost intuitive, and the sort of events and game modes add a lot of playability to this, but....

The game is unbalanced:
1. Don't need to reach level 4 items in survival because level 3 ones will keep me at fine levels of living.
2. Reaching level 4 items is very boring anyway for it involves hoarding and a lot of expeditions and some luck even to find the right items. And because of point #1, it felt like a chore. There should be at least a default "medium/normal challenge" setting where the specifics such as chance of rain, etc, are configured in a challenging enough version for the average man. This way enabling us to experiment the "crafting levels" in a more unthrottled or less boring manner.
3. In the "Surrounded" game mode, the number of enemies that come in each assault are n+1, this becomes almost impossible even when all your characters do is train strength. I suppose I need to start using guns at 4+ intruders or let them invade me, but at that pace, I would need laser guns or some mass destruction weapon when it gets to 8, if I'm even alive by then.

Also:
- The events are random (which gives a refreshing gameplay for about 10 hours), but the moment at which they happen are neither conditional, nor structured in alternating timelines, or even randomized, so this makes the experience a very linear one and (sooner than I hoped for) devoid of final purpose; like.... worse than factorio, which had plenty enough of distractions before (never) launching the rocket; here instead we reach a point where surviving becomes simply living, and it becomes the same formula every single day very much in the manner of fallout shelter.

- Tried countless times to make ladders and/or a third floor. I never could find out how. Like I said earlier... almost intuitive.

I am thanking this game is somewhere in between Fallout Shelter and This War of Mine, but please, please, please try to strive more for the standards of the second one. Kind of makes me a lot more inclined to play monopoly, which I also know the formula to winning flawlessly. I love the concept of this game, but it needs further refinement in order to wet my pants.

Not worth its full price in my opinion, but having got it at 75% off, I am liking it quite a lot. Pretty similar to "Fate" in gameplay and quite similar to Diablo when it comes to the interface.
I recommend you get it if you like going on a killing spree and happen to find this thing at discount.
