Early Access Review
Even more complete than Tavern master. Tavern Master was cosy but it became an idle game in the endgame; here you have a complete strategy game where you have to manage many different resources to produce for merchants, but also for your own shop. It's a lovevy game that will occupy you for hours if you like that kind of games.

Maybe that's just not for me, but I really can't stick with this game. First of all, I had to install it 3 times cause the two first times it would never start. Secondly, it needs so many launchers at once just to start that it drives me crazy. Lastly, the game really feels like it's the first free fix to get you to buy the rest. There are ads for their expansion packs everywhere, and every time you just want to chill and for example download someone's house to add it to your village, it tells you that it uses items from a pack you don't have. It's like the Steam Worshop, but everything must be bought, and for the price for a bunch of assets you could instead buy a full indie game. For two packs, you can buy an AAA game. Don't waste your money and time in this and buy a real game instead; unless chilling and doing nothing while waiting that your small characters do something like complaining that they're hungry is your thing... To me it just feels like the most expensive tamagochi you can imagine, even though the base game is free.

That's a really cute game, easy on the eyes just like on your computer, with so far a really cute story. The maps are really pretty and with an excellent sound design for everything, it's just a shame that there are so few of them. The game prefers us to move around and make a lot of round trips to progressively unlock everything on a map, which I found a little frustrating (perhaps it's on purpose.) Nothing is indicated and you must earn the help you can get, which is nice. There is a day/night cycle which is very important because some things can only be made during the day, other during the night, which gives a strong sense of immersion.

I'm not sure if the game tries to be a stealth game or a RPG one, and I'm not sure that the game knows either. It's some kind of hybrid between the two genres, where you have to constantly sneak and take detours to reach the same place for the thousandth time, but there is also this system of disguise with clothes that have stats, and a lot of lore for a universe and world-building truly made with love, but which really would have fitted more a full RPG. I'm in the constant frustration of not being able to explore this world in an open world - because the numerous items, clothes, armor, weapons, NPCs and side quests would have made an excellent RPG. At times, and even if it's justified by the story, having to sneak everwhere is a harsh reminder that you're in fact just playing a stealth game. A part of the game make you want to explore everything of it, while the other part prevents you from doing so. I think my frustration comes from this.

Don't get me wrong: stealth games are among my favorite genre and I truly enjoy them. But here, it feels awkward, like it was meant to be something else. Still; Ghost of a Tale is a really cute and lovely experience which I would recommend, if not for the graphics and story, for all its poetry.

Easily played 25h without realizing it, I had a lot of fun! Once you've finished all the researches and all level in your tavern it becomes an idle game, but nothing prevents you from restarting a new game and designing a whole new lovely tavern. Be careful if you have an old computer, in the endgame there are enough entities on screen for a little lag; don't underestimate the game's needs!
Overall a very attaching and lovely little game, soothing and chill for your cold evenings. A little short if you play in easy mode, so I recommand harder difficulties if you want it to last.

Game suffered from its bad launch. They fixed a lot of things between time and I think that no matter the original and small disappointements, it's worth it. I had a really great time with my first game, and I'm enjoying it even more with a second character. There are enough quests - main quest with varied endings plus interesting side quests - to easily spend 60+ hours on it, which will make you pay one buck for every hour of game if you don't give up. Cheaper and funnier than the cinema!
Good points:
- The music, which is amazing, immersive and cool
- The characters, really attaching and developped
- The quests, immersive, makes you want to discover what happens next
- The game's length - even the main quest length for that matter
- The fights are sooooo cathartic! Every weapon has its load of fun and you can really vary and play as you'd like to, and every way to defeat your enemies is fun, I mean it
- CD Project red still uploading content and fixing bugs in spite of the bad reputation (they could just give up)
Bad points:
- That's still full of bugs. T-poses, characters crossing cars and walls, items you can't pick up, even a fully black screen that made me restart the game just now.
- World feels fake, in the way that there are a ton of buildings and places to see, but you can't reach them, or enter the buildings, can't talk with NPCs (well, you can, but they'll just answer "What do you want?" and there's no further interaction.)
- Not enough romances, and they're easy to fail with bad answers. Just let us romance Takemura please, he's just asking for it at this point!

Do we still really need to present Skyrim? A classic, a must-have. I have nothing to say that anyone wouldn't have said before me; this game is a masterpiece.

Played it a second time two years after I've finished it a first time, just for the pleasure of forgetting the game to re-discover it again. I loved it enough to say that the game is in my top ten favorite games all time! I'm rather bad to review games precisely because if I have fun while playing I'll simply love it regardless of anything else, but let's try to sell this game to more people, cause it's worth the price:

- Graphics:
The game is beautiful. You can stop at any time, take a screenshot, and use it as wallpaper for your computer. And I say that while I ran the game at the lowest graphics as possible, since I don't have a master pc. The ambiances are crazy and I was immediately inside the game with the hero. And damn the transitions between cinematics and in-game time are smooth! About the cinematics: the mocap makes every character so alive, and so real. Even on an alien's face, the facial expressions are gorgeous. Some cinematics includes gameplay, like in the middle of a boss fight, or to save your life at the last moment, and they're very cool.

- Gameplay:
I divide the gameplay into 2 distinctive parts: the exploration, the fight.
Exploration: The environments are varied, you'll walk inside imperial corridors, thick foliage, slide on mud, dry in a red, rocky desert, explore high places or fall into deep undergrounds, run through nice little towns to damp swamps, swim in cold waters, and more, much more. I just regret that there isn't any day/night cycle nor weather change, I would have absolutely loved to re-discover places I loved under different weather or light. Even is the story is a bit corridor-like, you're free to explore quite large maps on every planet and to collect completely skipable chests that'll simply give you more appearances and customizations in-game.
Fight: Oh boy are the fights in this game absolutely enjoyable. Cal is talented enough to make you feel like a pro gamer just with two clicks, and the more you play, the more you unlock badass moves. Really, I rarely had so much fun while playing a game! Besides, every unit and evey mob you'll encouter will have their own characteritics, constraining you to fight them differently, and avoiding repetitions. I never get bored by the game, and sometimes just made mobs re-appear in a zone just to fight them again and again just for fun. Also: getting exp while you just force-pushed a bunch of foes in the void is extremetly pleasant as well.

- Story:
Story's simple, but full of little enjoyable surprises. The characters are attaching, filled with attaching flaws or gimmicks. They're not reduced by a generic trait, and you feel like they live their own life even when you're not here. The talks between them and with you are very human, they make jokes, talk about where they come from, have their past with their mistakes, etc. The only bad point to me would be the sensation of time passing: it feels like you spend only several days with them, while it's suggested through talks and growings plants that months, maybe years have passed, and we can't really feel that.

- General difficulty:
Someone said "Easy to learn, hard to master", and that couldn't fit more. You can play on easy mode and enjoy the story if you're a chill person, and if you love challenge, you can increase difficulty to a soulslike game. It's well-balanced, making it enjoyable for anyone.

- Bugs:
I recently madea run and encountered a few bugs, always the same: foes I pushed too strong in the ground and stayed stuck. Nothing I couldn't fix with the attract-puch-thing tho, so I didn't encounter anything game-breaking, and there was only a few.

- Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is discreet, but good when you hear it. We'll mostly remember The Hu who made songs for the game but besides, it's more ambiences.

That's all for me! Maybe on my way to play the game in Journey+ mode eheh ~

Almost a hundred hours of playing this game while writing this comment; figured I could drop a good note here.
Styx is a really fun game, and I enjoy replaying it to complete all the different challenges the game has to offer. After all this time, I still discover places I've never visited before, and it amazes me. I'm in love with the ambiences of every map, and I sometimes simply start the game for a nice walk in Akenash. The maps are incredible; they're layered a lot and contains a ton of different paths that you can take, allowing you to experience something new in every run. You can choose to be merciful or a real butcher if you're talented enough (unless at the beginning in easy mode, foes will always one-shot you then.) You can choose to explore the really large maps and collect well-hidden medallions, or to ignore this part, although effort is always rewarded in the game. You can choose to go unnoticed and to remain a shadow all along, or to use your clones to attract attention far from you and to frighten the ennemies. The path you'll choose will be unique to you.

I remember when I played it for the first time. It was my first stealth game and it was really stressful for me, and hard to play. It took me some time to tame the game, and to fall in love with it, and with the whole stealth genre. Sometimes I wish I could forget everything I know about this game to rediscover it again like the first time. It really impressed me back in the days. Nowadays, it might feel a bit old and cranky - the gameplay isn't completely on point (Styx doesn't always do what you wish he'd do, but they fixed it in Styx 2, and it won't prevent you from finishing the game anyway.) A sure thing is that the game is definitely worth the price you pay for. It will occupy your days for a while and will feel really cathartic; the game's difficulty (even on easy mode) is a real challenge and completing missions really does feel like you've worked for it and deserve every single exp. point.

Also, I saw no one speaking about it: the artists behind this game are wonderful. I'm thinking about the game designers - I would kiss their cheeks if I could, the cinematic digital artist(s) and their amazing uses of colors and textures, the gorgeous ears who made the OST - what an OST! It sets up the ambience immediately and rocks with a divine cello. But also the concept artists, from which you can see the artworks in the end credits (and probably on internet too) who made a neat and coherent world, the voice actors (even if they're not a lot, since alas, many NPCs have the same voice) and their crazy accent, and probably even more artists that I can't name.
Basically, this first game of Styx has a very unique personality and global design, it's a one of a kind videogame experience that, in my point of view, can't be missed if you love stealth games.
All of these notes are the reason why Styx has inspired me and haunted my dreams for years now. In my heart forever, I definitely recommend it!

Jeu simple mais addictif ! Super ambiances, décors magnifiques, immersion totale, musique entrainante...
