Whilst I am having a lot of fun with this game currently and am absolutely going to play more, the performance here is quite poor. The Capital has constant frame drops and combat also sees drops below 60 as well. Really dampens the experience.

My specs are listed on my profile, and as you can see I definitely should not be getting any framerate issues. Here's hoping Capcom can improve performance in the future, but regardless it's disappointing to see the game release like this. PC port moment I guess.

As for the microtransactions, this is nothing new as Capcom have been putting microtransactions like this in their games since World. Simply do not engage with them and play the game as normal.

pre-ordered this to again support sony's decision to port their exclusives to PC so we can maybe finally salvage bloodborne, but this game in its current state at launch is some real dog ass. terrible performance with an extreme over usage on VRAM.

don't be an idiot like me who pre-ordered, wait for a sale when it's been patched.

Hopefully the battlepass stuff will get addressed, but beyond the valid criticism the multiplayer thats here is probably the best multiplayer experience I've had with a new release in a while. Sure some weapons suck and there are a few minor issues when matchmaking with friends but whats here is so engaging and so exciting that I really don't mind the nitpicky problems right now. I hope this game continues to get even better because Halo has never been this fun

Although the performance is not much of an issue for this game now (I bought the game fairly recently but I’m aware of its launch issues, most of what was a problem then didn’t affect my playthrough), I feel like this game has a serious issue with keeping me invested and it sincerely lacks a gameplay hook.

It’s gorgeous, the world is giant, but the story is uninteresting despite it trying to throw a giant curveball at you at the ending half of the tutorial/opening. I really wanted this game to be engaging and fun but it’s just lacking in any meaningful depth. You run around and constantly hoover up supplies to grind for upgrades but the enemies you need valuable materials from seem way too daunting for your current level so you get a sense that you’re just not strong enough yet. So you grind and grind and grind but it just wears out its welcome too fast.

Couldn’t bring myself to play it again, spend your money elsewhere if you’re looking for something to sink your teeth into. Otherwise you definitely won’t see the end of the game if it doesn’t get you hooked right away, which I feel is a waste of money.

Bought this game on sale for £30+ and I still don’t think whats here is worth that price. Having said that, this is not a bad game by any means. If you’ve played RE2 (Like I have and enjoyed immensely) you could easily skip this remake and not lose out on much, the only things that stick out to me are the dodge mechanics / counter, the extra Racoon City street environments and new enemy types which come and go as well as the new UI design which I thought looked a lot more refined than RE2’s personally. But when a game’s commendable aspects comes down to it’s UI you can see tthat this game isn’t as special or as jam-packed as RE2 is with content or replayability.

There’s lots of flat textures in later areas and the streets at the beginning of the game get a lot of resuage. I felt like I could never fully grasp the dodge mechanic throughout my first run and instead found myself screaming at my monitor yelling “what the ♥♥♥♥ I dodged that”, but I’m never the best at precise timings for mechanics like these in-games so I don’t know whether to fault the game or myself for this. Although I will say every time I did trigger the perfect counter mechanic it felt random and not at all like I’d ‘hit the mark’ for my dodges / counters.

Upgrades for weapons and hip pouches felt like they were just given to me for free with 0 effort at each new milestone in the games rougly 4-5 campaign and I felt a lot less satisfied with the puzzles here in contrast to RE2’s brilliant RPD station that has honestly become one of my favourite video game locations ever due to it’s satisfying layout for how to beat all of the puzzles, despite it appearing this game in a lukewarm manner however.

All in all, I think I would give this game a very VERY contextual recommendation. Do not buy this game for any more than £20 or £10 equivalent when it goes on sale, or purchase the RE2 + 3 bundle if that ever goes on sale for more than enough content that you could ask for, especially when this game feels like extended DLC for RE2, which considering the context of the original and the games story, this isn’t surprising but hardly an excuse for what this game is.

Also the MP game you get with RE3 for “free” seems like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that I have no interest in, and purely exists to justify the price point.

7/10
