The point of an idle game is still to be a good game. If video games are art there would be good reviews of idle games, free to play games, whatever.

THIS GAME RULES. I was planning to be productive this afternoon but the (at least the early-game) gameplay and systems are tight and unique and goofy fun. The ticking clock volcano and weird, dynamic threats kept me focused and the research/upgrade mechanics are satisfying and straightforward enough. I totally wanna play multiplayer.

This is fun and cute. It's very in the style of boardgame 4Xes and it's not deep but feels balanced. I haven't dialed in the difficulty settings so i've stomped through a few games and gotten snowed under in a few so i don't know if the AI is stupid but i worry it might not be smart. The late game lacks variety but the early game is all nice, chunky, chess-move decisions.

First, this game rules the school. I've got more to say but that's my main point.

Because don't let me hate on "not a real roguelike" games. I'm not the oldest of the old but i'm definitely ye olde schoole when it comes to the genre and there are criteria this game misses from the classical interpretation. WHICH IS FINE, plenty of rogue-descended games do and are great games. But few games capture the spirit of the roguelike so well as Streets Of Rogue. It's goofy and a little sloppy but intricate with tons of character. Nethack is something sacred in my brain and in my brain SoR can cuddle right up next to it.

The enemies and NPCs are simple and represented simply but they have character. The character of the levels is revealed through play more than art or writing. This game is a system of systems designed to challenge and entertain. The spirit of the roguelike is a sandbox with rules, especially with absurd and surprising rules and this is that.

Cool concept maybe but it's not built for fun play. It's hard to read the number of what you're placing and hard to read the numbers of zones on the map; I wanna be able to plan stuff out but couldn't. There doesn't seem to be any good way to set up the camera.

Badass! V. recommended though i don't really know what's going on and don't know how much progress we made playing it. The music rules, the art's cute. My sense of it is that there are three stories about assassination jobs and for each you pick a loadout and then get to read the results. It's entirely in Japanese so i don't know what the stories actually are.

I don't want to hate but this is not fantastic. The maps are same-y and confusing, driving's a pain, graphics glitchy.

I love this game, i oughta thank whoever made it for reading some secret journal i didn't know i was writing. I love orbital mechanics, i love conserving energy, i love being clever about the way objects and systems interact in the game. This is another game that's cute and positive, full of positive energy but that won't hesitate to stomp you if you do the wrong thing at the wrong time. Also every game needs a grappling hook.

I very much want to play with my friends; We tried remote play together and it didn't work but i don't think that's the game's fault, i think it was either that Steam's a jankity jank or that i couldn't penetrate the UI.

If any video game deserves to be called "cool" it's this one. It's not a jazz-themed gorilla simulator, it's a gorilla-themed jazz simulator.
