Early Access Review
If Supergiant has a million fans, I'm one of them
If Supergiant has 5 fans, I'm one of them
If Supergiant has 1 fan, that one is me
If Supergiant has no fans, I'm no longer alive
If the world is against Supergiant, I'm against the entire world
Till my last breath, I’ll support Supergiant

A fast paced battle royale game without the FPS aspect. It's free to play with the major component being crafting. Only downside is that the servers are Asia based, so expect some lag if you play anywhere else.

Short and sweet. The artstyle is simple but cute, the characters are realistic and likable (and willing to apologize and talk things out). It's nice seeing more lgbtq+ (especially trans) content on here that's well written. The music's soothing, if a little repetitive, but the game's short enough where it doesn't bother you too much.

It was really refreshing to see that the bad ending doesn't have anything too horrible (tired of seeing lgbtq+ people in pain and sad), but it is realistic, and that the other endings vary from being slightly sad and wistful to hopeful.

Fun gem for those who want a relaxing time, like visual novels, and want to see some trans representation in games.

I saw this game and knew I had to play it. I love cats, visual novels, and magic, and as someone who's definitely not straight, it was refreshing to play a game where gender and sexuality didn't have any issues and wasn't the focus of the game.

It's a cute game with a cool concept, but its short and repetitive. One of the routes includes romancing a character that's significantly older than the protagonist (who's about 18-19), and it was.... odd. I enjoyed all the routes except for that one, though I do like the character. It just felt uncomfortable.

That being said, all the characters are interesting and you get attached to them quickly! The way magic can take form is amazing, and my favorite part of starting a new route is seeing what new magic there is. The setting has a lot of potential, but it's very short and doesn't take advantage of it. That being said, some routes show more of the world than others, so if you want a more natural progression of the game, I'd romance them in this order: Finley, Hayes, Landry/Mason, Reese, and the Secret Route.

tl;dr:
PROS:
  • lovable characters
  • some character customization [can choose pronouns, skin color, hair length]
  • interesting premise / world
  • secret route!
  • easy achievements

NEUTRAL:
  • pleasant but inconsistent art
  • small setting, about 3-4 areas
  • minimal music; suitable but forgettable

CONS:
  • short
  • repetitive
  • very little dialogue/decision options, and they tend only really affect what route you get until endgame [which is the same for every route]
  • could easily add more customization [hair color, name]
  • on the more expensive side

FINAL VERDICT: A short but fun game about a cat cafe that hints at a pretty amazing world, but ultimately focuses on a couple of kids. It's good for me, but it's pricey. Recommended, but only on sale unless you're into the concept.

A beautiful game with lots of life (lol) and color to it!

A very unique concept brought to life. It's very fun to see how you interact with objects and how people interact with you (best executed in the Terrortown level) but once learned, the gameplay became old very, very quickly. It essentially turns into buttonmashing, and depending on specific achievements, slow button mashing. Short game with little replayability outside of achievements.

It's very cheap despite length for the amount of polish it has, though. The game is absolutely beautiful and the designs are intricate and vibrant. The only exception to the rule would be the original level "Mansion", which I remember playing years ago online. Still, it has its own charm and the other levels balance it out nicely. You can tell they put a lot of love and effort into this game.

It runs very nicely on my potato of a laptop (2012) despite looking great. There are several bugs, though. Despite working earlier on, the game would load in and only give me a blank screen. To solve that, I had to run "%appdata%" and manually deleted the info there (uninstalling and reinstalling did not work). The other achievements (such as "next of kin") wouldn't work even when filling the requirements, and only fixed itself after several tries.

tl;dr:
PROS:
  • great graphics
  • great soundtrack
  • cheap
  • easy to run
  • easy achievements
  • charming interactions
  • controller support

CONS:
  • short
  • repetitive gameplay
  • glitches w/ achievements

FINAL VERDICT: A short but sweet game with its atmosphere and personality making up for its minor bugs and tedious gameplay. Ultimately recommended.
