Early Access Review
Note that this is still in early access:
=============================
TL;DR
Ups: Good Concept. Good mechanics. Can be really fun to create your own drone. PvP with automated drone.
Downs: Not as fun as when it was in beta, Upgrade and progress can be halted by procedural generation.
6/10
=============================
NOTE THAT THERE IS SPOILERS:

The game was fun in beta (befoer the eraly access on Steam), getting random weapons and upgrades as rewards for progression. Just focus on making weird and wonderful drones that fits your imgination.

Now? Nah. Upgrades? You need to spent time digging. Special guns? Nope, just a skill tree now. Progress? Nope, all the remining missions are the ones you dont like ... Fun? Well ...

Excluding the PvP drones, which are still really fun.

Most of the other missions are basically the same thing. The snake eggs are annoying, because they can be quite hard to find in a large planet. So everything else seems .. the same. There is the barrel mission, but there is special place in hell for it later.

Amongst the other missions, (which ae mostly the same thing anyways) there is only one that i hate fromthe bottom of my soul. Perhaps it is because i dont find it interesting, or maybe it really is a stupid mission. I would like the devs to take a serious note.

The barrels, oh god the barrels. To put this simply, you are asked to design a drone with a magnet, in order to pick up 5 barrels to clean up a planet. What they dont tell you is that every barrel is guarded by ITS VERY OWN PERSONAL tower that outputs a large amount of damage, and explodes when you shoot it down. (Who guards interplanetary bio trashwith high tech towers?) These towers are generally placed practically next to the barrels, so have fun picking the barrel up and carrying it back to your mothership ^^. Oh, did i mention that the barrels are destructable? and they explode? and sometimes they explode for no reason? And that while 5 barrels may not seem like a lot, most of the time they only give you around 7 per mission? And that there may or may not be other enemy which may or may not explode which will blow up the barrels if they hit it a couple of time? So its just reset after reset, and hope that the barrels' gurdian angel dont shoot the barrel to ruin your mission every reset.

This will be bearable if you effort is rewarded, but guess what? the only reason you do them is to progress to later stages (like every other stage). You get nothing from doing them. NOTHING, not even resources. Thanks to procedural generation, sometimes, you may be as unlucky as I am. Where all your missions are done except for the barrel missions (I have like 5 of them ...) and every barrel, in each stage, is nearly impossible to pick up. I can kill the enemies and scout out where the barrels are. However, if i do that, the towers will explode with the barrels (because they are touching, not just close to each other, touching), and the mission is a fail.

Your may think that i am stuck .. but no. I am already on my second run of this game, and the same problem occurs. Its not that it is impossible. No, it is simple not fun after a while (after you created a robot that can finish each type of mission with no problems, and when you try to make something else work it fails miserably) And trying on the literally same mission on different planets just adds to that misery.

Since this is still in early access, I wont grill the game itself, I likse the game, a lot in fact.
But some of these things, like a single pixel of terrain that cant be removed by a LASER scan. Can completely stop your ship and force a reset. i dont even want to mention the number of times i had to reset because the bloody tower shoots the barrels that are your mission criteria.

Maybe when the game is officially out, i will review it again. But right now, the game is only about a 6/10 in my book, better than most, but still needs a lot of work.
