||=|| I only recommend this game because it costs £4.29 and there is a free demo to try ||=||

- Graphics: Great but nothing you haven't seen before. (It's UE5 so I mean yeah it probably would look good unless it was your first time turning on UE)
|
- Audio: It does the job for the most part. My main gripe seems to be that you cant actually tell when something is above, below or on the same floor as you. This is a issue on both the first and second level, you could be hiding in a room and hear the monster near by. Unfortunately you have no way of knowing if its outside your room or stomping around up/downstairs. (granted at least in the hospital the monster shakes dirt from the ceiling.)
Generally I think the audio needs more processing as things generally seem closer to you than they really are.
This also all applies to voice chat. you can speak to someone like they are right next to you if they are directly below/above you on another floor.

- I like the premise, but of course its not the first game to do this, I think a reason to choose this over something like devour is that I guess this game visually looks better?
|
- The use of the microphone is great for a game like this. It gives you a reason to use the in game microphone as a more realistic option for a horror game. In games like Lethal-company which are great but other than a slight immersion increase probably would be about the same experience with or without using discord.
Here if you don't use the in-game voice then the monster really is just a blind and deaf guard dog till you accidentally press the space bar or walk up and off a object by accident.
Another question I have for the voice level it kind of feels like the monster doesn't actually hear you unless you're really really close to it even in the orange section. and the top of the bar seems to alert the monster no matter where in the map you are.
|
- The use of the microphone is great BUT as I stated previously the monster being nothing more than the hypothetical snail chasing you for your million dollar brief case you took a deal for, it doesn't really feel like staying quite matters.
|
- The objectives are simple and do give you incentive to explore the map of course and it works great for the first level in the house.
The second level less so. Why?
Well because like the first level there is 2 methods of escape, 1 the elevator, 2 the helicopter.
My two buddies and I just did which ever objective we found parts for.
in this case it was the helicopter. Now unlike the first level in the house there is a ♥♥♥♥ TON of drawers/cupboards to open.
so all in all you spend 90% of your time running from room to room trying to remember where you put the fuel tank because instead of that you carried around 5 keys to god knows where, all because you don't want to leave behind a tiny hard to see key which may or may not be how you get into a room with a necessary item. (I think you get a bunch of redundant keys? I might be wrong here)
so your game play will consist of cod zombies training the monster around the map while your buddy looks for a tiny emergency switch on a wall somewhere in the huge ass hospital to activate the helicopter as a last step (What even is this? it makes no sense.)

- Cosmetics are Cosmetics, not much to say about them. I guess you have a reason to play the levels more than once.
(or twice I guess if you care about finishing both escape options)
|
|
TL;DR
- Scary for the first 5 minutes, until you realise the monster is slower than you, and all you need to is get its attention and run circles around the map till your buddy finishes the objectives.
|
- There is is no consequence to getting heard as again you just hold shift and win.
|
- The objectives after the first level are just tedious and that's about it
|
- Audio overall needs work
|
I think with more work the developers have a pretty good game on their hands. But I think with the way trends move with horror games these days its better that this is finished sooner rather than later.
Games like dead by daylight were all the craze for quite a while and then people moved on. Now we are in a era of run around a map and complete objectives to escape (basically dead by daylight but the monster is AI instead of PC)
