If you grew up watching dragon ball, or even still are, you'll enjoy this game.
If you like fighting games you'll enjoy this game.
If you like well writen storys...well maybe not this game, but they did write one yes!
But it was fun, and rarely do I play a fighting game just for a story anyway.

Dragon ball fighterz is probably the closest you'll get to making a fighting game just like the show.
In both look and feel. Technically speaking it's nothing new for fighting mechanics, which in it self is nothing bad for Arc Systems as they've had experiance before. The "menu" overworld layout is a little off-putting to me personally, i'd rather just select my options normally and maybe interact with online in an overworld setting but i've heard others praise it so take what you will from that. They've added nice touches as well, like dramatic finishes and a choice between languages.
A fair chunk the music (to the best of my knowledge) is from the show and it's sounds great.

Network play is mostly solid though Delay can really become an issue. Thankfully Training Mode lets you adjust that if you really want to get a feel for it. Match making is hit and miss for me, rarely are they even skilled matches, more ones where i'm matched with a much lower ranked opponent, or ones where i am said opponent. This could just be my skill rank lacking other people right now.

As good as this game really is there are still a few complaints; The roster feels a bit small. A lot of the fighters feel the same (Though recent dlc's have helped this). Only 3 fighters to actually unlock, and unlocking them felt like a chore more than anything. The Lobby (as I said above). Personally still not a fan of Delay-input though it has worked better than i thought it would. Story Mode drags on a bit, even for me as a long time fan of the show. Arcade mode is interesting to say the least, AI difficulty seems to vary (sometimes the 4th set of fights will spike in difficulty, sometimes later). The AI gets increases to Damage (to almost double) and how much energy it gets as Arcade goes which can become frustrating.

All and all this game has been a lot of fun to play. Visually it looks very nice and very close to matching the shows look.
And while arcade can be a bummer, online can be a lot of fun with or without friends. It's mechanics are the right kind; simple to learn but with lots to master. Full price is a bit much but still worth it for this game.

I recommend it to anyone who is a fan of fighting games, looking to get into them, or someone who just enjoys the show!
