Yamaha started out making pianos but quickly decided that wasn’t nearly loud or dangerous enough, so they built motorcycles, boat engines, and god-tier V8s. They gave Ford the SHO V8, created the LFA’s screaming V10, and even dabbled in F1 engines (that mostly exploded). But their magnum opus? The WR250R, the greatest dual-sport ever, killed off only because mere mortals weren’t worthy. Yamaha still makes everything from dirt bikes to boat motors, proving they can do no wrong—except for discontinuing the WR, which we will never forgive.
