It has a lot of potential, plenty more mod support, but as a game, it isn't worth the price tag. Reforger makes many needed improvements over past ARMA titles, but takes many steps back as well in many areas. An overarching issue with every ARMA game that I've noticed is how shallow the realism aspect is. Many systems are implemented to the point where you're left wondering "why couldn't they have just polished this feature just one more step forward?" Everything is always almost good, but is then compromised by some layer of jank, some weird design flaw that just wouldn't cross any other game dev studio's mind to implement in a million years. For example, when you shoot someone ingame, there's a very high chance that your bullet will get blocked by that person's weapon. Weapons have collision now. Woah, cool, that's pretty realistic, something we haven't really seen in any other FPS game before! Oh but this happens for like 90% of torso shots? Wait, the bullet doesn't do some sort of fragmentation and slightly damage the wielder? The round doesn't have a chance of knocking the weapon out of their hands? The gun doesn't get damaged from being struck? A gun is now OP armor because it's invincible and can block like 90% of incoming rounds. It is literally better than any body armor in any game.
Also an obligatory mention that it's basically improbable that you'll be able to get into a multiplayer game, because the backend services weren't built at scale to support the size of the playerbase. Bohemia won't even give a small discount to those that did pay to QA this game for free as a token of gratitude. Not even a thank you. Voicing your concerns in their discord will just be met with scorn by unofficial backseat moderators with "veteran" tags, and bandwagoning by simps. It's an echo chamber.
Mods are also hosted on the game's built-in workshop, where Bohemia has expressed that they will be having a heavy hand in moderation and censorship. If there's a mod that they don't like for whatever reason, it'll be taken off, and nobody will be able to host a server running said mod, because the whole system is centralized with Bohemia being the central authority on what people can and can't make.
ARMA Reforger is a good technical leap over its predecessors, but it's still behind in so many aspects that you would expect of an FPS game in 2022, and even of features that existed in prior titles. Bohemia doesn't seem to know what identity they want ARMA to have, and are dismissive of their players and modders concerns, and only wish to be praised for their mediocrity.

I would not recommend Reforger IF you want to play it as a game. The content is lacking, the multiplayer is busted, their backend services aren't built to scale. If you're a modder or die-hard fan of the series, I would recommend it if you want to see what the future of the ARMA series beholds. I would say give it some time, come back in a month or so and see what's new and if the server issues get fixed.

I loved the YouTube dev logs for Hyperbolica, and admire the dev's commitment to pulling off this technical feat, but the gameplay itself isn't for me. It could work well if targeted towards children, and that's not an insult by any means. I wouldn't recommend it in its current state if you're looking for actual gameplay, as it felt aimless and frankly quite boring due to having to run around everywhere and talk to mindless NPCs. VR controls are also missing for headsets such as the Quest 2 via AirLink and a few others as reported in the Steam discussions, which is a bit disappointing, but there is a disclaimer currently that says the VR support is in development, so there's that, and I saw the dev address this in the forums, saying he's working on it IIRC.

My advice to the dev is to not be discouraged, you've done a fantastic job with the technical portion of Hyperbolica, and I believe that if you come up with perhaps another game mode that is more engaging, and not (please don't take offense) mind-numbingly slow at first, that'd redeem the game for a lot of people. I couldn't get myself to play any further than going around the starting area and through the jungle portal thing before giving up out of boredom, but I can only assume that the rest of the game is as uninteresting unfortunately.

All of the guns feel generic and quiet. Gameplay feels uninspired. Gore and physics are decent though. Would check back in a few years.

A spiritual successor to the SWAT series. Controls are streamlined, and easy to issue commands. Gunplay and damage model feels great.

Great game! I love the middle age aesthetics, and the way alchemy is presented and interacted with is clever and thought-provoking.

Everything is nice except for the damn combat AI and their awful, almost generic MMO-like attack animations. It's such a waste that all this combat equipment and handling is undermined by the devs' desire to have this weird fantasy combat AI with janky animations that have zero practicality in combat. The best I can describe the AI is that they fight like a fat kid with a big imagination in their backyard, spinning around and jumping all by themselves while in their head they think they're fighting a horde of goblins or something.

Really a shame. Performance is also a big problem. Ryzen 5 5600X and an RTX3080 with 32GBs of RAM and the game installed on an SSD, and I get bad performance when there's more than 2 or 3 AI.
