Fantastic game! Not sure how to explain it, but probably something like Portal and Donkey Kong Country co-op vibes with every previously existing fun video game mechanic put together into one session. It will require some communication and actual cooperation eventually though.

Yes, if you want to play PC games with a PS5 controller. Annoying and finicky FR, however, this rage inducing "app" is still worth if you have the controller connected to USB and use sound haptic feedback with the controller speaker together with surround sound all together. Why? Because you can feel the music in your hands and this alone is great!

Great game, HOWEVER!?- It starts with 30-40m story 'til first battle. After that it's 3.5 HOURS until the next battle. It's a novela drama story with battles sprinkled in. After about 4 hours be sure to do the free battles to level and then 2 more hours of story holy lord within the 5th dimension! The battles are legit like Final Fantasy Tactics but hardcore combo mode though because death is perma. Only play this game if your netflix sub ended and you need hours to spend on a pixel story. With that understanding, I recommend and really enjoy the game!

I really enjoy playing this game. I've taken a long break from shooter games and only found my way into playing this because my wife is the #1 resident evil fan. Played on Xbox first when she took a brief break and I was instantly hooked after the 2nd game, so I purchased Resident Evil Village on steam the same night. I play on PC with an Xbox controller and on a SteamDeck.

PROS+
+Resident Evil Fans will enjoy
+Great to play a controller for extended periods of time
+Fast 6m Rounds
+Instant Adrenaline Action / Addictive
+Each Playable character is completely different style of game-play (with high skill ceiling)
+Every Bio-Weapon (zombie) form feels like a different vehicle which is great for long-term
+After 118 hours I never got bored of the music/sounds on my surround sound w/ bass

Negative-
-The standard Resident Evil Clunky feel of gameplay takes some time getting used to, but is very rewarding to master. Even though I list this as a negative, it eventually becomes a positive when playing with a controller due to solid muscle memory build-up.
-Some game manipulation/exploitation occurrences ("Evil" players using multiple semi-afk accounts as fodder for point manipulation)
-Some Character Balance Issues (PC Ada using mouse is quite OP if someone REALLY wanted to try-hard 1-headshot everyone. Leon can be annoying to fight at times and Chris, however, the longer you play the game the better you will become at knowing how to engage, or the right time to disengage fights to win.)
-It doesn't feel like a AAA title, but it's free with RE:Village which is a great stand-alone game. I see a lot of judgement regarding the graphics and look, but this has never been an issue for me personally.
-The game should have probably been launched with team play as an option, 3v3 anyone?
-The "new" playable characters from Chris' strike team being released are not very interesting and use the same weapons. I would have preferred if they released more mainstream RE universe characters like Ethan for example or old school characters like Carlos.

Summary
Great game for someone tired of standard FPS games. This offers something very different. The clunky gameplay eventually becomes a blessing and makes RE:VERSE shine as a strategic shooter. Once you learn all the player skills and how to avoid bad situations by rolling out- the game only becomes better. Don't be afraid to line of sight dance, roll, run, shoot, die. Fatty Mold is underrated fun for hunting down top players or revenge targets. Have fun out there!

80 hours of game time in 2 weeks. I just finished the main story including defeating all cultists and gathering the Atlantis artifacts. Great game! Get the mercenary legendary weapons that enchant weapon with poison or fire... then... everything gets REKT!
