Accidentally took the shortest path to the screaming house, followed the screams and shot the mimic in almost no time at all. Not sure if that was the intended path or what, but it definitely seemed to be missing something.

You can't really go wrong though. It was short, but the final scene had a large amount of tension for me. The forest was very well put together.

Pacing is fantastic, the gameplay loop changes at regular intervals, and the story seems to continue muuuch further than where I've gotten already. VERY good game

It's a different experience than ROR2 in terms of gameplay, but the ethereal aspects of exploration and discovery are just as strong

The short and sweet is that it's an ethereal experience that relies on the player. If the store page fascinates you even somewhat, give it a try before you accidentally spoil something. The intro's hook is strong enough that I didn't even realize I was going to do an entire ending in one sitting. It's that good.

The premise lends itself very well to the format of the game. Even if you dislike reading games, you may still find it accessible because its fully narrated.

If you have friends to play with, this game is a no-brainer. The game is really really good considering it just launched. It really nails that niche of subnautica/barotrauma coop ship-management PvE if that makes any sense. The roadmap for the next 9 months is looking really good too.

if you like Sunless Skies/Seas or HoMD then you'll probably really like this game! It has a lot more granularity than its genre-adjacent games, which makes getting into it a little more work, but even so the tutorial gave a good impression of what was to come.

The harshest thing you could say is that the writing occasionally feels inconsistent. Any given event has twice the word count of an equivalent Failbetter Games rendition, and it doesn't always seem necessary. That may be just my tastes, so don't let that be the reason not to try it. There is a glossary which is absolutely wonderful, and makes it much easier to get into.
