Fun game, cool character choices with interesting skills. All 33 characters are freely included, however, the class amounts need more balancing as there's way more dualists. Game is also poorly optimised, I have most of the recommended requirements, the rest being above minimum, but get severe frame drops.

I love the story, the DBD references, & I also enjoy collecting the dolls & artifacts. I also thought the character appearances were nice & the voice acting was also decent quality. I would have liked the game to be longer, but at least it has replayability with the cutting room floor, different choices/paths/endings.

My only cons are the performance & optimisation. There were frame drops, mostly in cutscenes, & sometimes through gameplay. I think there should also be more settings options so more variety of systems can play.

The vibe was perfect, it felt in the world of DBD, & I'd love more solo story games like this in the DBD world.

I played this maybe some 8 years ago on browser. I enjoyed it & I got many achievements & customisations. The support for this game sucks though. I lost my account because it wouldn't let me change my email & was unable to prove it was mine. The way you had to change email at the time was through support which is a bad design. All my ToS1 stuff is lost forever. Just because of that design & my stuff being gone, I can't recommend this game. Plus it's old, so there's less players. & there's a sequel anyway.

To compare it to the sequel though, The dark aesthetic in 1 fit the game theme & vibe more. It used dark colours & plain hud which did well with immersion of the game. I also like the music more in 1. 2 is brighter, & has nicer art style however.

EDIT: Electro Crescendo trail is broken where it shows the back end broken off, making the trail shorter than the others. FIX IT please, it's my favourite.

Even though I really like this game, & will continue playing it for now, I'm not happy with the 2.0 update. Here are my reasons:

1) You have phased out the jet pack boosts on some heroes, & are phasing out jet pack boosts on the rest of the heroes in the upcoming patches. Jet pack gun play is what made Farlight unique (& also the vehicle fights) among other BR games. You said this is because it made gun play lack, but that was the learning curve. When mastered, the jet pack mechanic with gun play was fun & cool, & felt rewarding when you win a fight. If you really wanted to change it to make gun play easier, you should have just nerfed the jet pack boost cool downs & maybe removed the horizontal boosts. This way, it's a middle ground. Gun play would be easier, & people get to keep their boosts & show off their trails. What's the point of the cool looking trails now? No one gets to see them. You don't even make the trail show when the jet pack is used for other things, like wall running or zip lines, which I guess, is a missed opportunity.

I saw most players commenting on different platforms, how they wished for you not to remove the jet packs, & you did it anyway.

Another reason you did this, was to make Maggie feel more unique among other heroes. But you made her worse, she has 1 less boost, & she doesn't even have her roll/reload tactical skill anymore. While I like that you added another tactical skill to heroes, I feel you should have at least kept the horizontal jet pack boost, & also kept Maggies roll/reload tactical skill.

2) The new map is very Apex Legends aesthetically themed. The building shapes are almost identical, the map taking place on a different planet, similar to Apex lore. I think even tho the terrain is very mountain/cliff focused, I think the aesthetic & theme should be unique compared to other BR games, & not a copy of Apex.

I really wanted to like this game because the art is cute & enjoyable, the story is silly in a cute kinda way, the backgrounds & vibes are generally aesthetically pleasing & it seems nice for spooky season. These aspects of the game are excellent

But the controls & such are so clunky feeling. It just doesn't feel smooth or fluid. & the little things are so annoying & tedious to me, that I have no more nerves & patience left to play it

For starters, the camera follows Mina as she moves, instead of letting me see everything on the map all at once, by panning out. This makes clicking light sources as she moves, annoying. Not only does it give risk of missing it, & turning Mina to stone, but it quite literally also robbed me of success. I know I clicked it when I clicked it, so why are you turning Mina to stone?! The arrows to change her direction are worse, there doesn't seem to be a clear hit box. Clicking the same place more than once, could either work or not work. You can zoom out, but the % is so low, that I even wonder why it's an option

The thing that ruins the experience most, though, is the fact that after a failed level, your prep work before you make Mina move, doesn't save. It wastes so much time. I don't know why you'd make it not save, when the prep work could be perfect & not the problem of the failure. If the problem of the failure is the timing when I use her power, why should I have to keep prepping the room? I don't feel satisfied enough when I succeed just because of redoing the prep work

It is a cute game though, & I'd say the game is very worthy of the price. It just needs more patience than I have to give

Updated Review ↴

What an amazing year late 2023 is for DBD! With the Alien chapter being out for a little while, the return of Stranger Things & Child's Play coming soon with Chucky & Tiffany as a legendary skin, & bringing back the previous 4 community skins (which I've been asking for for 84 years) I can't deny that BHVR have done a pretty good job so far. A good candidate for the labour of love 2023 award!

Old Review ↴

It's probably the better asymmetrical, pvp, survival horror game so far. The game doesn't have much competition right now, which can effect updates in a bad way because they don't have much to compete for. That being said, I love the game. Most of the maps are nice in creating the type of atmosphere that fits the game. I really love that there's license characters. The more, the better as long as they're horror.

Most of the characters have decent lore & appearances. The perks allow many different play styles, even if other players like to complain about your choices. Just ignore them & be a decent/fair player.

One of my complaints is the bloodweb. Why does it take so long? & I'm often having to choose things from it that will sit in my items for 84 years. The idea is cool, but the execution kinda sucks. It takes too long to select 1 single item in the bloodweb & sometimes have to choose things you don't even want. It's pretty annoying.

Anyways,

♡ Good for cosy game collectors ♡

It's a pretty relaxing game, with a decent collection of customers. (My fav is the mute lady). The art style is cartoony but cute, with a warm, cosy colour pallet. It's an easy game to pick up & play in between waiting for things, etc

I used to play this on my phone, (which was free) which was easier & made progression faster, because you could watch ads for more gems, but I like the Steam version better because there's achievements, Steam badge & cute DLC to make your shop & pizzas more personalised. The game doesn't rush you to progress much

I would suggest waiting for a sale, just because the phone version is free. But I think it's worth spending a little money on

Update: Why is it so laggy? It's unplayable!

I'm pretty bad at this game but it's still enjoyable. (Usually not with randoms though). The graphics are decent, & the legends seem different enough to each other where you can switch up your play style. Add more kawaii skins. Wattson got one. There needs to be more!

I love this game! I love the graphics & the smoothness of the bounces. The characters & backdrops are super cute. The music is also great, with some really catchy ones. This game is like a stress reliever when you play some harder modes, & your wrists will hate you for it, but it's worth it. Just take breaks
