Once a beacon of creativity and play,
A gaming titan held sway.
But corporate greed, a venomous seed,
Now dims the light, sowing heed.

I do not recommend this game yet, especially if you're planning on playing this by yourself.

I've played the Beta with a couple of friends, the start was really confusing, we didn't know to progress in the game as you start with the lowest gear and get beaten up by every mob. After a couple of hours we got the hang of it and realised that we needed to do "quests" which matched our gear raritiy (ie white>green>blue>purple>yellow or 1 till 5 stars). Once we realised this, we went after our great adventure, had fun trying an arena (that obliterated us), searching for dungeons, finding the glider, boat etc.

Once we reached around 8 to 9 hours ingame, we completely finished our first region. After that we decided it was time to explore the next part of the huge randomised world. Only after we crossed a border with almost full legendary (yellow/5stars) gear and attacked blue rarity mobs we got our ass beaten to a pulp. After the initial confusion about what just happend my friend mentioned that his gear was of grey rarity again. We all checked our gear and we had the same issue. We checked the CubeWorld Discord and found out that every time you cross a border in game, your gear gets a reset unless you find a gearpiece with a "+" in it's name. After 8/9 hours of gametime none of us had even encountered or realised that +gear was in the game. Perhaps some of us found a gearpiece but didn't realise. Checked our inventory and nothing of that kind was in there. Basicly we had to start all over again after clearing one dungeon and getting our first artifact (that increased our lamp light size by such a small amount that it was hardly even noticeable).

After realizing this, one friend quit our adventure and decided to give it another go after the launch because perhaps some change would come our way and change the progression system. Now me and another friend decided to push it a bit further, I mean this couldn't be it right? To keep this story a bit shorter than I wanted, he quit 4 hours after our first friend quit, and I wanted get some artifacts upgrades for my mount and glider speed, because I believed that once I did that, I would be able to progress at a much faster pace. Now with 56 hours ingame time, I'm level 30 (got 29 artifacts) and 1 of those increased my mount speed, 3 of those increased my glider speed while my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lamp got 8 upgrades and my swimming speed got 6.. This was the moment I decided enough was enough.

TLDR: Game starts off really hard, when you get some starter gear, this game will be really satisfying, after completing a dungeon and getting your first artifact there will be big chance you'll start wondering what's your time really worth.

In the meantime, I'll keep checking daily for updates, won't recommend this game for it's full price, if it's on a nice sale, sure but that's somthing I can say about almost all games.

Not gonna lie, it's a fun game and your grand kids may even have a opportunity to experience the 1.0 release.
