A maybe less thrilling story, specially if compared to Endwalker.
And that's what I expected, they can't be compared.
But a more polished experience indeed, from upgraded graphics to engaging dungeons.
Absolutely recommended.

PLOT: It was ok, nothing special to me. Some plot twists here and there, but I didn't get caught up in it, something feels off. Maybe I felt like it was a standard anime, with some drama, characters fighting and then laughing together etc.

CHARACTERS: I thought they were pretty generic from the trailers, they build up during the story though and Saizo is my favorite, I liked his story more but this is personal. Arrow got me at the beginning because I underestimated him a lot. Milady is ok aswell. Ringo is a MC with a fixed name and dubbed, which is great but I felt like something was off, maybe because she didn't have a background (explained story-wise but still..) and she's more self confident than the others, so I think I would have preferred a mute character like Joker. Figue seemed useless to me, even if she gets involved a lot in the story later on.

WORLD: It could be bigger, there are only a few small areas and some shops but it kind of works. I liked the night and futuristic atmosphere, specially the arts from the shops and the characters in there. Karakucho is my favorite area since it's bigger and you can feel the city. I also liked a lot the idea of the bar in Shinsando, you can meet your friends there and it resembles the social links in Persona but after a while it gets repetitive because it's limited to that, with the same animation of them taking a beer and drinking, while in Persona you can meet up in so many different areas of Tokyo and do different things. But I don't mean this game should have social links like Persona, it just does it way worse.

DUNGEONS: Having played some other Atlus games, I think they did 2 great things through their games: the dungeons in Persona 5, where you get detailed palaces with parkour, air ducts, safe rooms etc and the ones in SMT3, labyrinths full of traps where you can get lost, with poisonous floors or no light and even some ingenious boss battles where you have to understand what's happening and think outside of the box to beat the enemies, aside from just weaknesses, strenghts and counter skills (EG: finding the only one enemy with a shadow on a full moon or the statue with no reflection). In this game, world dungeons are ok, more SMT like specially in the subway ones, where's a series of opened walls closing when you cross them and triggering others to open, and the ward municipal tower where there are some floors and a puzzle with elevators you can switch, but that's it. The rest of the world dungeons are just small and flat themed areas with some blind corridors. And you spend most of the time in the Axis dungeons, where you walk on squares suspended in the air and the only funny part about them is the area with random teleports where you get lost a lot and the challenge is to explore everything without getting lost. But that's something SMT3 did way better and SMT5 even worse in its only 2 dungeons, so I'm worried about that. I mean either do them well or don't put them in the game, otherwise it gets boring.

CUSTOMIZATION: It seemed pretty good to me. The comps upgrade system gives you all the passive abilities in exchange of money and materials found inside the dungeons; mystiques enhance your skills, halve mp costs or add ailments to normal skills, they are obtainable by leveling up demons or by scrapping the ones you don't need anymore. I didn't check if they were making an actual difference, but the numbers were there so they sure did.

VOICE ACTING: As always well done. I played it in english and the quality is the same of other Atlus games. Checking the game folders I also noticed they actually put lip sync folders for both english and japanese dubs.

MUSIC: I expect a lot from Atlus soundtracks, I loved both the dancing vibes of the Persona series (that got me dancing on my chair for over 110 hours of gameplay) and the darker themes and ambient tracks featured in the SMT main series, that allowed me to better feel the apocalyptic atmosphere. Since MONACA was involved and they did a fantastic job in Nier, I was hyped a lot. But they obviously adapted their work to Soul Hackers 2 and there I lost the one thing I knew for sure I would find in an Atlus games. I mean, it fits well in the game's universe but I think their games are also unique for their soundtracks and I couldn't say the same about this one, with some exceptions.

BUGS: Leaving behind the awful experience with the missing costumes & bgm pack (digital premium editions in particular) that luckily has been fixed some days after release (I was almost getting through the end of the game without them), the only bug I noticed is the end walk animation being tied to the fps. If you cap fps to 30 it's how it's supposed to be, but with higher frames like 60, or 144 in my case, when you release the left stick Ringo keeps moving onwards by a lot. But it's not a big deal and the game should be otherwise bugs free. I have to mention though that there are still some rare cases of people that haven't got that dlc yet.

MORE: Going through the Axis dungeons you unlock some background story scenes about Arrow, Milady and Saizo. But you just see the holograms of the characters involved like in Code Vein and I can't get to like this way of telling a story.

CONCLUSION: It's an ok game, surely not great as it really feels it was a low budget production. But not that bad either. I recommend it to people without great expectations, but as a big Atlus fan I can't recommend it, they can and usually do way better than this. Since it has been produced by the same team from Tokyo Mirage Sessions, a game I avoided for the same reason, I guess it all makes sense.

If you've read it all thank you, I put some effort in writing it and I hope it'll be useful to someone!

This great game is back and it's shining. Nice remaster and more, with a new main quest in the middle and a new wonderful ending route, so old players should play it again too. For those wondering, there's also the old paid dlc included (this time for free).

Great port of one of the greatest JRPG!

PROS: rendering scale up to 200%, unlocked framerate and some other settings available in the menu, so you can finally forget emulation. Keyboard mapping available for those who don't want to use a controller.
CONS: music volume lowers a lot everytime a character voice is being reproduced and since the music is cool, it would be nice to turn this off. Framerate in the menu can be randomly capped when switching screen mode and vsync. Not a big deal anyway.

The game is as it should be, so buy it and support Atlus! Hoping to see more Persona games coming on pc, so everyone can finally enjoy them.

A mio parere il miglior gioco coop online, pieno di contenuti, ottime soundtrack e un'ottima longevità.

One of the best games of all time! Born as a troll game back in 2018, now it has been updated and it has a lot of funny items and skills. Wonderful graphics and extremely light at the same time. Take some time to read the description of the items available in the game to understand how they work so you can take full advantage of them.
