This game ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slaps. The movement is so good, the exploration is a lot of fun, and the combat is deeply satisfying. Good ass video game.

A delightful bite-sized 3D Metroidvania treat with rock solid gamefeel, a striking fuzzy psx aesthetic, and a novel, interesting, incredibly satisfying metroidvania moveset. The Steam release fleshes out the original game jam release with a bit of new content, fleshing things out a little bit around the edges, but it's largely the same game, which is good because the original release was already a great little indie gem well worth $6 and a few hours of your time.

And yes the bunny is cute. I really like the unlockable outfit you can find it's a great look.

A really sweet, sincere, heartfelt little queer RPG. It took me probably about 17 hours or so for a fully completionist playthrough, so there's definitely some meat on the bone here, but it's small enough that every little conversation and quest and hidden treasure can be something meaningful and new. The art is adorable, the music is great, the writing is consistently funny and charming and the story has a bit of intrigue and a lot of heart. There's a really likable cast of characters and they all get really good, compelling arcs by the end of the game, along with plenty of fun highlight moments to just be themselves, build characterization, and explore the dynamics they have with each other.

There was exactly one point in the game where I got a little fatigued with the battles, during an extended overworld exploration section in the middle of Act 2, but outside of that one time (which was largely down to me misjudging the space I was set loose in and being way more thorough than I reasonably should have been) the fights were breezy and the exploration always felt novel. The world and dungeon design is focused enough and has enough creativity and surprises to throw at you that you rarely find yourself feeling like you're regressing to the mean and Just Doing JRPG Stuff for long.

SLARPG is a delightful little nugget of queer positivity and I really recommend it to anyone who has a beating heart still capable of feeling love. It does what it sets out to do and it does it wonderfully.

This barely-coherent, ♥♥♥♥♥♥-up mess of a game is the most fun an RPG has ever been. The combat feels great, all of the classes are useful and cool, climbing on monsters and stabbing the ♥♥♥♥ out of them never gets old, and there's just enough cool weird ♥♥♥♥ in the garbled fever dream haze of what this game calls storytelling to make the whole experience really interesting and unique. It's a flawed gem to be sure, but that's part of the appeal. Besides, it's the closest any of these open world fantasy RPGs has ever come to realizing the character action dream, and that counts for something ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
