This game does not carry with it the try spirit of the Dirt Franchise. This is not to say that the game is bad. It is quite fun but no for those who have been fans of the series since Collin McRae days. This game is more arcady and it does well to live by that mantra. The selection of cars in the game are anaemic and the tracks look like they could use some work but for what the game provides, I think that is good enough. I went into Dirt Showdown expecting one thing but got another. A welcoming suprise though since it was fun to tear across the tracks crashing into opponents and listening to the wailing of the engines as I drifted across the track. This is fun in short bursts so i it will appeal more to the casual game although there are some aspects available for purists. All in all I will suggest that you waited a for a price drop in order to pick this one up since in my opinion Codemasters didnt do enough to warrant a full price for this game. With all this said I will give this game a 6/10 on the grounds that it took away from the franchise it claims to hail from and the focus on casual gamers.
