Honestly I've never been a huge fan of survival / crafting games, but Astroneer has completely changed my mind.

The game has a very relaxed atmosphere that I really enjoy. Exploration and crafting are rewarding as well, with both parts enabling each other nearly seamlessly. It really lets you go at your own pace and I can appreciate listening to the chill soundtrack while mining my way through to the planet's core.

Though it is not without its flaws, this game accomplishes a lot while creating a fertile environment for them to build upon. It's still a bit buggy (especially multiplayer), but it's still very playable. I've yet to encounter a bug that I felt ruined the experience for me.

In my humble opinion, this game is more than worth your time. The developers care a lot about this game and I feel are only going to improve upon it from here on.

I played this game all through high school on my X-Box 360, and I've gotta say it is just one of the best games I've ever played.

I could go into mechanics and exactly why, but the simple conclusion is that it's just raw fun. It's simple and easy.

There's a safe room and a crap ton of zombies in the way. Get your items and go. Sure there's plot if you look for it, but it's not intergral to the gameplay and the game doesn't ever make you feel like you're being bogged down with info.

It's streamlined zombie killing with friends and it doesn't ask you anything but to move forward (albeit you may be punched off a roof by a tank on the way).

Simple premise, excellent execution.

If you liked Left 4 Dead and would like to continue the same trend in a fantasy environment, this is the game for you.

You pick a hero, build up that hero, potentially pick another subclass and then deck them out with loot that increases in quality with your level. At first it may feel like it doesn't do much, but eventually you'll build an awareness of what each item does and you can meticulously craft them to your liking.

Another awesome asepect aside from that is the story and the characters within. I was always hungry for that in L4D and within Vermintide, it really delivers. There is really some top-tier banter between the characters and it fits hilariously well within their apocalyptic world. It is well worth it to play through multiple times and just hear the sass they give one another.

This game has been on my wish-list for quite sometime, and I'm really disappointed with myself that I didn't play it sooner. While the game's story played out quite predictably at first, it quickly spiraled into a territory I didn't expect. It's fun and not overwhelmingly lofty in its narrative, poking fun while leading you down a winding path of drama. If you're looking to get into a melancholic mood, this will put you into one.

I have a feeling my second playthrough will be just as crushing after knowing how things play out.
